Not the Usual Tropical Floral
I didn't know what to expect when I blind bought a bottle out of curiosity. There were no samples available for it anywhere. So, for a little over $10 USD, I purchased a 50ml. bottle at a discount store. I figured if I don't like it, I could give it away to someone who would or use it as an air freshener. Besides, the price of a full bottle was cheaper than a niche sample. So, there was not much to lose.

On first spray this opens with a burst of sweet grapefruit and neroli, then quickly evolves into a floral bomb of creamy jasmine and orchid. The orchid smells a lot like plumeria in this fragrance. It is sweet, strong, and gives this fragrance a very tropical feel. The pink pepper is wonderful here. It is softly spicy and perfectly contrast the sweetness of the flowers and the vanilla tinged tonka. There is cedar and patchouli listed, but fortunately, I barely smell them though they do provide a nice base for the florals. Personally, since I am not the biggest fan of those notes, I am grateful that they are lightly done and don't overrun the floral notes but allows them to shine and be the main attraction.

I really don't know what fragrance to compare this against since this doesn't remind me of any of the fragrances others think are similar. If I'm stretching, in a vague way Soleil Blanc, but only in feel not in scent. This is much more floral and doesn't have a heavy citrus playing throughout as it does in that scent. This also doesn't even have a hint of coconut. The only drawback with this fragrance is that while it starts out big with nice, easy to smell projection, within 3 hours it was a skin scent. But this is so cheap it's not much of an issue, and the 50ml. bottle is easy to carry around to respray. Overall, a successful blind buy that smells much more expensive than the pittance I paid.

Brave Men Deserve Dark Flowers
If you are like me, you may have found that orchid flowers have no scent, but is it true? If not, what redolences can you expect from your orchid blooms? Orchids that grow in the wild have a smell. However, many popular Phalaenopsis hybrid orchids sold in stores are unscented. This has led to a misconception that orchids do not scent. Unscented orchids are now propagated with scented orchid species to produce fragrant orchids. To give you a hint, Cattleya has notes of vanilla and cinnamon. Oncidium smells like chocolate. Dendrobium has a fruity fragrance, while Brassavola has pleasant scents reminiscent of the smell of lily-of-the-valley. Some species have a strong aroma. Like a handsome man whose cologne is so strong that it makes it difficult to breathe, Brassavola is wonderfully attractive but sometimes repels with its overpowering and robust scent.

Now, returning to Fleur d'Orchidée, I ran into it yesterday; the store sold the 50ml bottle for € 20, which is a bargain compared to the retail price, although Notino offers the 100ml bottle for the same price. Since I have owned some of the men's Les Parfums Matières "Bois de…", I was curious to try something from the women's line "Fleur de…". Without thinking about it, I took the tester and sprinkled the juice on the back of my hand twice, unfairly expecting something very mushy. But no, the perfume immediately denied my preconception and captivated my senses.

Fleur d'Orchidée envelops me with an intense aroma just sprayed on my skin, similar to tuberose essential oil. Strange, because nowhere does it mention the carnal flower of the tuberose. There is a slight citrus nuance coming from the peel of the sour grapefruit, like the odour that fills the room when you peel a fresh, bright yellow fruit, which blends with the bittersweet and somehow salty neroli. Still, overall the resulting scent is not too citrusy, and not a kind of eau de cologne on par with Echt Kölnisch Wasser Eau de Cologne. I suppose, but I'm not sure, the white jasmine and tropical orchid flowers from the core blend with the top notes and create that tuberose-like impression. So far, so good. I love what I am sniffing.

As Fleur d'Orchidée approaches the heart, the initial tangy smell fades into a smoother, white, thick-petaled magnolia, something musky and lemony. The neroli makes space and becomes more prominent, enveloped by a spicy pink pepper. At this stage, the velvety orchid bloom should shine with any of the many shades, such as chocolate, cinnamon, hyacinth, and jasmine, sometimes even with buttery undertones. Still, I don't know how to isolate that smell. Maybe it's that musky magnolia I'm capturing in my heart, along with the alluring indole jasmine. The more it grows, the more it takes a decidedly masculine cut. I believe neroli goes well with other pronounced flowers such as orchid and jasmine.

The dry-down is all about semi-sweet tonka with vanillic shades, some creamy woods, and the right hint of sensual clean patchouli. Close to the skin, I can catch the light nuance of suede with tuberose still lingering underneath. Indeed, there is no trace of cedarwood's shavings, just a lite woodiness, and I am a bit concerned as I cherish that smell.

Ultimately, Fleur d'Orchidée is lightweight and perfectly suited to the intermediate seasons. That's the scent I enjoy wearing on warm spring and fall days. Besides, you will get the best of it on the summer nights as the carnal facet makes it mysterious and fascinating. A fresh and sensual perfume to wear every day, office and leisure are two pleasant options. It seems not very long-lasting, but as far as the lowest price is concerned, it doesn't bother me too much. Hence, if you are a brave man with an open mind and not afraid to wear dark and sensual flowers, you deserve Fleur d'Orchidée.

I base the review on a 50ml bottle I have owned since April 2022.

Was it the jogging pants??
This morning I discovered you at Globus, your name caught my attention and I also really like orchids, which led me to spray some on my wrist.

I then forgot about you until we were in the car and my nose wandered towards you, what a scent, a scent that my driver also liked right away.
The jasmine and the orchid..... this fresh fruity fragrance has captivated me.

I immediately searched online for offers for you.
But I wanted to test you first to see if you like me.

At home, we put away the groceries together, had a coffee, and I kept sniffing in your direction, falling more in love each time.

It was time to take my grinning bear out for a walk, of course you were coming along, no question about it.
So out of the nice clothes and into the........jogging pants.

In the woods, you slowly drifted away from me, I had to get closer to you, in the end pressing my nose against you to smell you....
where did you go?? why did you suddenly disappear?

Was it the jogging pants?

I will buy you anyway, even if you were only with me for 3 hours, I will wear you with jeans, a skirt, and in jogging pants, whether you like it or not.

Orchids & Emotions
I adore the old KL fragrances, KL pour femme Extrait or Chloe classic Extrait are a dream, the new scents are not really my thing, except that KL for her was a good companion for me this summer.
So I paid little to no attention to the Fleur de... line. When I read here and elsewhere that it is supposed to be very similar to the Orchid from YR (which I love!), or that it is a scent twin, I naturally wanted to test it. Unfortunately, that was not easy, nowhere to get samples and when it was offered here in the store, it was sold out, testers stolen. This only fueled my curiosity more, and I thought it must be good....

Today was the day, through roundabout ways I got the 50ml bottle. The bottle itself feels good in the hand, it's simple but by no means flimsy, so that's good. The sprayer is also very good, no drips, etc.
The first sniff...Citrusy, fresh, slightly bitter, no pepper and no "sweaty grapefruit," I am relieved :-)...so far so good....then the shock: Lemon bathroom cleaner?!?!....but I hold on. After about 20 minutes, the scent becomes creamier, more floral, it is still fresh and slightly bitter, and the cleaning note is fortunately gone, phew! Another 15 minutes later it becomes very close to the skin but the scent is becoming more pleasant, yes, and I think I can recognize that it could lean towards orchid, my heart starts to flutter with joy....but unfortunately, in the further course, it somehow doesn't go anywhere. The scent somehow "hangs" at the transition to the heart note, the base doesn't come through at all except for a bit of cedar.
It remains fresh, bitter, creamy, slightly citrusy, minimal woody. But nothing of tonka, etc., no further flowers, sweetness or exotic warmth, nothing...The longevity and sillage are also rather mediocre.

To be honest, I am a bit disappointed and I wonder if it is because I might be judging unfairly/unilaterally driven by the twin theme. Therefore, I started a second test to evaluate fairly, here are my results:

On its own, FdO is a good all-rounder for anyone who likes fresh, citrusy unobtrusive scents or a very good companion for the warm season. Due to the less good longevity and sillage, one might have to spray more often, but for a normal retail price, the scent is quite expensive and would therefore only be a candidate for purchase if on sale.
It certainly won't become a classic in the Lagerfeld fragrance line, as it lacks many things.

So how is FdO as a dupe?
In my opinion, it is not a scent twin for the Orchid from YR. The approach is certainly there, but nothing more. At the beginning, it is too harsh and it lacks the warm, attractive feminine note as well as the exotic floral quality that this YR classic has.

And now?
I will keep the FdO bottle well sealed for next summer, maybe the scent will develop better on my skin in the warmth/heat or completely differently. I have experienced this phenomenon with some of my fragrances (Tommy Girl is one of them). If a change occurs, I will gladly edit my comment.

My search for a good dupe for YR Orchid continues (I know there are countless offers online for Orchid, but I no longer want to support this business with vintage fragrances.)

The white jasmine and tropical orchid flowers of the nucleus mix unusually with the neroli and patchouli creating that tuberose impression.

A vibrant neroli note dominates the bouquet at the first smell, then the tonka bean warms up the accord. Maybe a little synthetic, but good

Smells fresh and pleasantly fruity. Similar to Light Blue but fruitier.
You can't go wrong with it.

Summery, fresh lemon vanilla with an exotic vibe; it also has a bit of a spa or room scent, leaning towards Terracotta Le Parfum.

Initially zesty lemony neroli that later becomes floral and slightly fruity. Actually too beautiful for the drugstore shelf ;)

Reminds me of sunscreen but in a more exciting way? I got it VERY cheap at Müller. Amazing value! Always works, almost empty!

Zesty-fresh like AA Pamplelune with apricot nectar and tonka. Radiant flowers and jasmine linger in the background, fruity good vibes.

Too much grapefruit and cedar, combined with almost contrasting fragrant apricot and all the others, unfortunately create very bitter challenges for my nose.
