Powdery, resinous vanilla--well done!
Maison Tahite Vanillade is a vanilla with powdery, fruity, and floral touches, slightly gourmand, with main notes of benzoin, patchouli, musks, citruses, and flowers. It manages to balance out sharpness with sweetness effectively to the point of not being overwhelming in either respect while still being strong in both respects. I quite like it, and it’s likely my second-favorite vanilla fragrance in the house after Vanilla2, and is not quite l like anything I own. It’s a little boozy in its sharpness, vaguely reminiscent of Tauerville Vanilla Flash, in that respect, but that’s as far as the comparison goes, I’d say, but I’m sure there are other vanillas to which this may compare.
Vanillade, like the rest of the line, is priced at $120 for 100ml in EDP concentration and is sold by Luckyscent and some other boutiques. It is among the strongest-performing fragrances in the line, also, making it an especially good bargain against what I regard as very reasonable indie/niche pricing in the current market.
