Chocolate-covered coconut marshmallow treats, Bounty bars and pina coladas
Btw before I start: I absolutely HATED Fantasm when I first sprayed it, the same with the second time. ALL I got was the menthol-y patchouli from original Angel, unpleasantly mixed with an odd coconut. And my nose refused to adjust to it even in the drydown.
But after that and I continued wearing it since I bought it anyway, I started to love it, as the scent changed into what I'm about to describe. So please, if you get the same experience, give it time.

Fantasm however dries down to a sweet, boozy pineapple and coconut chocolate liqueur. Wow, it's honestly very warm, sweet and delicious. It reminds me much more of Mugler Angel Muse edp than Angel edp with this drydown! It must be the bourbon vanilla that gives the chocolate experience. So I can completely see why people think this smells like a pina colada, except it's much more sophisticated than that, and in no way your typical ''summery EDT scent''.

On the skin, the patchouli actually almost completely disappears, and I even get notes of licorice in this one. I absolutely love the transformation of this, I will definitely be buying the refill and keep the cute little 25ml bottle I have for refills.

Usually I dislike coconut in fragrances, but the warmth of the vanilla and patchouli transforms the coconut into a warm, boozy and intoxicating liqueur note instead of your typical beach coconut.
The patchouli in this keeps it from being sickly sweet and boosts the longevity and sillage to me.

Angel in Summer Solstice
Recently, I was able to get my hands on all the new Muglers (Alien Extraintense, Angel Stellar, and this one) and I was quite excited to test this Fantasm, given the comparison to and with owning Angel Iced Star. And to be quite honest with you, I wasn’t expecting to like Fantasm more than AIS, but here we are!

Angel Fantasm is essentially Angel Iced Star boosted by a big, boozy vanilla note and a tropical tiare flower. The tiare amps up the coconut, and serves tropical floral goddess in this composition. The patchouli is also much more turned up in this, which is what I felt was missing from Angel Iced Star. To be deemed a *true* Angel flanker, one must hone in on that characteristic, chocolate-y patchouli, and Angel Fantasm definitely gives us that patchouli more than any of the other summer Angel flankers. If you are someone that hates the OG Angel but likes fruity tutti scents, Iced Star is your girl. But if you are a fan of the OG and Iced Star fell a bit short for you, check out Ms. Fantasm.

Fantasm is louder in sillage and leaves the most divine scent trail. Can’t speak to longevity as of yet, but given the stronger patchouli, I have a feeling it won’t lack in staying power. This is the true summer Angel, and one of the better flanker releases from Mugler as of recent! Can’t wait to get my hands on a full bottle. She’s the summer Angel flanker I’ve been craving all this time.

Dark + Sweet
My favourite department store just went out of business and I knew I wanted one of the full 100mL size perfumes that they had left, even just as a relic. One of the last things left was Angel Fantasm, and since I am in love with the bottle and the box, the iconic shape and colour and everything that is so Mugler, I was instantly sold.
I wasn't expecting to love Angel Fantasm as much as I do ~ I absolutely love the design and the intensity of Mugler perfumes, Angel by Mugler has always represented what I think of as glamourous and sexy to me for as long as I can remember.
This scent is sweet yet musky, and the coconut is a really unique touch instead of basic vanilla tones that are common in most 'sweet'/traditionally 'feminine' fragrances. It could be considered to be a bit heavy by some, but I like extremes, and Mugler always delivers on that front. It feels so gorgeous to wear out even on a hot night in summer, but I feel like this fragrance will still be as appealing when it's cold in winter. Love!

Summer in a black bottle
Mugler has already had some tropical, summery Angel flankers that came in colorful bottles, so I was surprised to find another one of those in a dark, more wintery looking presentation. The naming and bottle color really doesn't make much sense to me, but the scent is still really nice.

Well, at least if you like the sweet, earthy, patchouli-heavy Angel DNA, because this has a lot of it. It's a bit heavier than Angel Iced Star or the Eau Croisières. I like how it pays hommage to the original Angel, but is still wearable for people who find the EDP a bit too much. Some of the more recent Mugler releases like the Angel Nova and Alien Goddess line have been too far removed from their pillars for my taste, but this is clearly an Angel.
Besides Angel's patch and vanilla, this has very noticeable coconut and pineapple notes. So, it smells as if Angel had a piña colada. And a good, sweet, creamy one at that, not the watered down version!

I might be alone with this opinion, but this also vaguely reminds me of Rihanna's old perfume Reb'l Fleur, which is also an angel-esque patchouli and coconut scent, and the slightest bit of her other scent Rebelle. I think it's just the patch. And, to an even lesser extent, there is something in this that makes me think of the original yellow Bum Bum Cream. The creamy nuttiness maybe? I'm not sure. These are really just fleeting thoughts of resemblance, but I didn't want to keep them a secret.

I would mainly categorize this as a summer night perfume, but why not also wear it in the colder seasons? It's sturdy enough to stand up too cooler temperatures, and you can always have a piña colada and dream of summer.

Back to the future….
Honestly, I am a bit lost, disappointed or whatever! I was sooooo excited about the new Angel version because it sounded like the promise of a seductive perfume. Actually with that name „Fantasm“, it kind of sound like mysterious and sexy. Seems like the „Fantasm“ is more the „fantôme „ (ghost ) of the past. The smell pulled me back in the 1990‘s as teenage girl when more ir less 90% of women were wearing Angel from Mugler. Angel was THE iconic perfume at that time. Today, 30 years later there is no secret or mystery in that new Angel version.
However, if you feld in love in the first perfume Angel version you‘ll get that flashback… some will hate and some will fall in love back again.

Hoped the patch would add a twist. Nope. Pineapple and coconut in 'beast mode', straight in your face. Follows the 'louder is better' trend

Very accurate piña colada candy with a warm background. Delicious, tropical and cheery. Unfortunately leans too synthetic for me.

Beautiful scent! The coconut really shines in the first hour or so, and dries to a less sweet/kinda dirty woody vanilla

Dark, sensual patchouli and piña colada. Made me change my mind about patchouli. Dry down is sweet, candy-like. Smells like the Bounty bar.
