A Gourmand Musk?
I've worn this for a couple of days. Some aspects of it I like and some I don't.

On initial spray I got musk. MAAI fleetingly sprang to my mind. Not at all strong like MAAI but a dry, dusty, animalic overtone and soapy.

By the time the liquid had dried on my skin I got lemon and ginger, followed by petitgrain and jasmine, and finally bergamot all with the tiniest, faintest chocolate note (hardly there at all)..

Gosh this was hopeful.

But, here in a moment, gone in a flash, 15 minutes and I was left with a lemony musk on the skin with wafts of sweet chocolate coming to my nose.

It is one of those perfumes that I have no idea what I would smell like to other people as at this stage my skin just smelt lemony musk but I could smell a slightly sweet vanilla chocolate around me.

I didn't get any feeling of rum but having never smelt any of the Rum Accords that are used in perfume making I don't know what I would be looking for. Anyway, it doesn't smell like Captain Morgan's.

An hour in and it was much stronger, the citrus all but gone, sweet vanilla chocolate, heavy, overwhelming musks, trailing all over the house. At this stage there was far too much of the sweet vanilla chocolate for my taste, and the musks felt quite heady. There was a touch of waxy floor polish thickness. I found a vague woodiness but nothing in particular.

By the two to three hour mark it was back to a soft skin scent, perhaps slightly dirty vanilla/chocolate musk, the fragrance all but gone. If it comes roaring back I'll update the review but it might not as I applied it yesterday evening and by morning there was nothing left on my skin.

I liked the early part of the wear (first half hour) with all the floral citrus dabbed with spice but the middle hours were far too sweet, sticky, heavy, cloying vanilla chocolate musk. Maybe it is a too gourmand for my tastes and my overall impression is that of a gourmand musk.

I found it interesting, fun to try but it isn't the one I am looking for and as my nan used to say, " You don't know what you want and you wont be happy 'til you get it." Wise woman my nan.

Cute (but violent)
Being attacked by an unbearably cute stuffed animal, drenched in sugar, chocolate, and rum. There you go.
That could be enough — but I have a feeling you want more.

This fragrance is undeniably fluffy. But also, undeniably feral.
One side launches volleys of jasmine, cardamom, and cane sugar. The other retaliates with civet, ginger, and petitgrain. The battle rages on, neither side gaining the upper hand.

This dichotomy has an effect on you — you’ll find yourself switching allegiance depending on your mood.
Just beware of the headache.

The Flatness of Complexity
It wants to be complex, but it’s merely forced.
Like one of those art students who do strange things just for the sake of being strange.
And yet, bold it is not.
It’s a very fashionable musky fragrance, seemingly evolving, and yet terribly sweet and overdosed with a wave of Ambroxan or whatever.
A bit tacky, really.

Cuddling People Wrapped in Cashmere
Musk is a component in fragrances that one can - like in my case - love or hate. In many scents, it is mixed in such a way that it is perceived directly as a synthetic component. Especially in fresh fragrances, it is used far too intensely and inappropriately. This makes musk no fun. In "Musc Ravageur | Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle," the musk was unfortunately too intense for me as well, but not because of the synthetic composition, rather because the structure of the scent was too furry, too voluminous, and too unbalanced. What a shame, as I would have liked a different outcome here. Therefore, I approached musk fragrances with a lot of caution and distance.

Now came this "Hologram Collection - Musk Complexity | New Notes." First discovered in the story from the good Duftbunker a.k.a. Felice, this rainbow bottle caught my eye quite nicely. The eye does indeed smell. After the fragrance was also mentioned in a video, the first shares appeared, and of course, I eagerly jumped in and joyfully ran around the apartment to test it.

This week, the sample arrived, and I was full of anticipation for what awaited me here. Thoughts of my previous rather bad experiences were out of my mind. I can say "thankfully," as it was definitely not foreseeable that I would be so convinced by it. You can see it in my rating; I was teleported from the rainbow bottle directly into the goblin's treasure pot.

Musk Complexity has certain parallels to Musc Ravageur. Not too many, but you can recognize similarities that are charmingly reinterpreted. I would call it a softer, fresher, and tamer version than Musc Ravageur.

It starts on the skin with citrus notes and creamy-soapy hints of ginger. However, these ginger notes are hidden behind the citrus fruits, so there’s no big concern that soapy notes are clearly perceptible here. I quickly notice on my skin this intensely spicy creaminess and dust-dry powderiness that were also noticeable in the French version. However, it is softer, rounder, more balanced, and generally much, much more lovable. Everything cuddles together to project a mixture full of affection and closeness. Physical warmth wrapped in cashmere blankets. Love in the nose. Italy in the heart.

Gradually, it becomes really cinnamon-like, but not sharply spiced, rather fine notes of cinnamon sticks roll past the nose and are also seduced into the creaminess. At times, you can faintly perceive light white flowers or clouds of light sweetness from cane sugar, sandalwood, and darker woodiness. As quickly as it comes, it is also gone again. This certain physical note likely comes from the complexity of the musk variants and civet. But certainly not in a way that one can directly speak of intense animalic qualities. Just a balance that is rarely found in a fragrance.

Throughout the entire duration, the scent feels incredibly harmonious and by no means synthetic. It is actually the masterful achievement of the perfumer to shape the synthetic musk materials into such a realistic reproduction. One can only say chapeau.

The sillage and longevity are also in the truly strong segment. We are talking about at least twelve hours on the skin, depending on how it feels, before the fragrance shows signs of wanting to disappear. Absolutely phenomenal for this type of scent. The same can be said for the projection; especially at the beginning, I perceive the spicy and fresh notes around me with movements, which do not disturb the air at all. Because as I said, it "humanizes" with the scent.

In the end, there is nothing else to say but that I am glad I approached this without prejudice. Thank you, Duftbunker, for the story contribution a few weeks ago. Here, a true dream was opened to me.

The Complexity
The first impression is quite fresh with lemon, ginger, and bergamot. It doesn't last long - it then rolls down and becomes somewhat herbal - but never unpleasant. It also has a bit of darkness and depth to it. A scent like a bouquet of flowers where new ones are continually added, so complex is this fragrance. Its presence becomes calmer and quite close to the skin; I can confidently say it lasts 6-8 hours. You can still smell it the next day on your clothes. For a musk scent, there are many other nuances perceivable, such as spices, woods, and even patchouli. I don't perceive that typical soft-powdery-dusty quality of a fine musk perfume, as there are far too many other strong ingredients that want to make their own appearance. All in all, a very wearable and unusual scent with decent longevity. A unisex candidate, the bottle, shaped like a square cube with a hologram, looks simply fantastic; the price for 50 ml is around 160 euros, and it is called Extrait de Parfum.
On my skin, after hours it smells of fine wood, ginger, with a hint of freshness that carries a very delicate creaminess of musk. It should be tested on your own skin, as it will surely be different for everyone since it is soooo complex.

5-6 hours, faint vanilla chocolate musk skin scent has been joined by a balsamic note wafting and the mearest hint of patchoulli. Faint.

A spicy and slightly animalistic rum(-ball) scent, underlined with musk. There are slight parallels to Musc Ravageur. H&S top.
