short, blue moment of refreshment
Fiordaliso is for me the epitome of a freshly showered moment - just a small short-term upgrade to good mood. A fragrance that captures the feeling of pure skin, clear air, and summery lightness, adding a subtle floral note to it. It is fresh, floral, slightly cheeky, but never intrusive - like a smile in passing. I like to wear it after showering to preserve that feeling of purity a little longer. Unfortunately, it lingers only briefly, but therein lies its magic: It is not a scent that stays, but one that touches - fleeting and delicate.

I associate Cornflower with a very specific mood - an inner scene that unfolds every time I spray it. I see a woman with a large yellow sun hat, with flowing blonde hair and a bright blue dress fluttering in the summer breeze. She walks barefoot along the edge of a winding Italian country road next to fields of wildflowers and cornflowers, while the sun gilds the fields and the sky already announces the coming thunderstorm. A gentle drizzle begins, cooling the warm skin, and the woman joyfully spreads her arms, enjoying the moment. This vision - free, wild, and yet gentle - is for me the essence of Fiordaliso Cornflower. A fragrance that reminds of lightness, of life itself: short, beautiful, ephemeral.

Cornflower Blue - to be continued
Uncommented Scents No. 195

Some of you may still remember my blog about cornflowers, in which I also addressed the problematic political implications, their historical significance in Romanticism, and their special, quirky herbal scent.
You can read everything there:

“Cornflower Blue: In the Mirror of a Critically Political Consideration” (Blogs Yatagan)

What was not known back then: The Italian natural fragrance brand L'Erbolario (depending on the definition, it may or may not belong in this category) has since launched a cornflower scent: Fiordaliso

Since Fiordaliso focuses heavily on the cornflower not only by name (the rose remains quite subtle, amber and vanilla waft rather in the background, mandarin and cassis only form the top note), the character of this most beautiful of all blue flowers can be captured quite well: somewhat herbal, almost spicy, diffusely floral, the sweetness is certainly contributed more by the rose.

So, anyone interested in this flower, which can mainly be found at the field edge in sustainable organic farming, should take a sniff here, without expecting that something like a soliflore would actually be present. The cornflower is simply too shy for that.

The scent is, by the way, charming, simple, uncomplicated, and relatively original in character (even if you may have smelled something similar before).
With this likable brand, the verdict is: recommended!

A bitter, herbal floral scent that’s not too heavy, but also not entirely fresh. On me, however, it develops an unpleasant*

What do cornflowers smell like (see my blog: "Cornflower Blue")? Spicy floral, bright herbal, underlined with rose, musk, and blackcurrant.

Bright, spring-fresh, and clear clean scent, the color blue fits well, luckily I don't notice any berry from Joh.

Meadow flowers with a light, vanilla powderiness. Pleasant, light water, lovely.
