A perfume addict's diary 02: February

A perfume addict's diary 02: February

Remember dry January that wasn’t actually that dry? Well February had only just begun and I felt like a racing horse in the starting blocks. Roaming the online shops, filling shopping baskets to see how much stuff costs. And then checking out my bank account to see there’s definitely a mismatch somewhere.

Maison Crivelli had the greatest hold on me. Those scents are sooo intoxicating. Still holding true to one of my rules though: don’t buy the full bottle before the sample runs out. That seems to help. Not jumping into conclusions too fast and having a cooling down period relieves the tension.

Around Feb 14th I thought there might be some cool discounts because of Valentines. That didn’t really happen so my bank account salutes me for that.

I had a difficult moment when I got my eyes on Caron in my local perfume store. I sprayed a bit of Oud Excelsa on my coat and oh boy that’s some great stuff… a totally wearable oud, very very nice. That totally got me off guard. I’m just undecided on the masculinity of it. It’s in this very feminine bottle too so I might skip it but it stays in a place on the back of my head.

A week later I was back in that store to smell it again. But I got distracted by another house. I gave a sniff to some perfumes from the house of 27 87 perfumes. I’m in that store so often, smelling their stuff all the time. So I wanted to do something in return and bought the discovery set. Just for them of course. Not for me. Lol.

Another week later I visited the beautiful city of Leiden. There’s one perfumery there which of course I had to pay a visit. Asked if they had a good iris. Got to meet the fabulous Hyper Iris there. It’s not as good as Iris Malikhân though which I have on my wishlist already. What a nice store though, with a wonderful service. Definitely worth another visit sometime.

New bills drop in the mail. It’s as if the less money I have, the greater the seduction. I almost wish I hadn’t bought that discovery set.

So I decided to sell some old videogames I had lying around to get some money. I gotta have some cash to take with me to Paris where I’m heading at the end of the month.

Those who know me know I’m craving to buy Layton. I wanted to buy that in Paris. But now I got to know that Lalique White in Black is a close enough clone. My crooked mind went like this: If I spend a couple of tenners on this clone, I can keep my mind off of Layton for now and spend my money on something more special in France. So I bought it online.

Funny story about Lalique White in Black by the way. So Lalique had this other perfume called Lalique White Eau de Toilette. Guess who stole that formula? Yup PdM with their Galloway. So it’s even a justified clone too.

Lalique White in Black came in right in time before I finish this blog and head for Paris. It's not like Layton at all. So who knows what I'll come home with 🤷🏼‍♂️😁 Finally this racing horse can go loose! See you next month!

@Ceesie the best clone of PDM Layton and very inexpensive is Haramain Detour Noir. I thought everybody knows that!

Great article, I enjoyed reading your thoughts and I totally agree, it can be hard not to feel like you're drinking in as many fragrances as possible after a "fragrance drought"! 😅
Did you already go to Paris @Ceesie ? Hope you have/had a great time, looking forward to hearing what you snag while there!

Yes I’ve been there! It’s truly perfume heaven… I did a quick rundown of it on the forum, but I guess I’ll repeat bits of it in my march diary because I don’t have much else tbh
