Galloway Parfums de Marly 2013

In a lineup known for its bold and often baroque compositions, Galloway by Parfums de Marly takes a different path, one of restraint and clarity. Released in 2014 and crafted by perfumer Hamid Merati-Kashani, Galloway leans into freshness and cleanliness, qualities that may explain its relatively low profile in fragrance circles. Yet for those who value subtlety paired with performance, it offers a quietly confident alternative.

The fragrance opens with a brisk, peppered citrus accord. Bergamot and pepper working well to deliver a sharp, invigorating start. It’s a clean, almost minimalist introduction that mirrors the stark white of the bottle. As the top settles, a soft floral heart of orange blossom and iris emerges, adding a slight powdery smoothness that never becomes sweet. The base which is anchored by musk, amber, and sandalwood grounds the composition with warmth and longevity.

Galloway’s structure is relatively linear. The citrus-musk character remains steady from start to finish, offering consistency rather than evolution. This stability makes it effective in professional settings.

Where Galloway truly distinguishes itself is in performance. Despite its fresh profile, it delivers solid longevity (often exceeding eight hours on my skin) and maintains a moderate yet persistent sillage. It projects just enough to be noticed, but never intrudes.

When i was interested to try this fragrance and asked to friends that had it, they compared it to a more modern Lalique White, that was disappointing because Im not the greatest fan of that fragrance, as i think its smells ok but dated... I asked for a decant anyway and the surprise was quite good! The word that comes to my mind to describe the smell of it is CLEAN. I got the sense of getting my best clothes and dress them after a shower, but dont take me wrong, its not like a shower gel vibe (like Percival or Sedley), the best thing i can think to compare the smell is clean sheets in the bed before going to sleep, that amazing smell that gives you a feeling of Embrace when you lay down before sleeping... I get some reminiscent memories of new paper, just the moment you buy a note book and smell it after oppening it. So... This is probably the fragrance with cleanest smell that i've tryed, and after the decant i bought a bottle! It lasts on my skin 6 to 8 hours easily, wich is amazing for a fresh scent and is a perfect signature scent, as you Will always smell clean and fresh. Highly recommend it!

If you are approaching to Parfums de Marly for the first time of course you are not going to consider galloway at all because the maison has some other fragrances placed in the popular ranking. In fact this is an underrated gem among of other PDM's creations.
It can give you a feeling of cleaning completely different from the usual fragrances you can think about when you think to "clean" scents.
The opening is enough fresh and crispy but going through its evolution the fragrance become more powerfull opening its clean heart powered by orange blossom and white musk rouded by the sandalwood. When this is all over then you perceive a slightly powdery note stuck nearby your skin.
It is a long lasting fragrance with a good sillage so, if you are going to use it at work, be frugal with the spry. It comes In a white classic PDM bottle. Unfortunately you cannot see through to check the juice left.

Galloway is a great fresh citrus scent for warm summer days and occasions where you just want to smell simple and good. Longevity is not really the best as i only get arouund 6 hours of scent on my skin when im wearing it. Sadly its really overpriced for such a simple scent also but it is really good.

Parfums de marly is one of the best niche brands, their fragrances have a very good quality and and special character. This one is my favourite together with oajan. It is unique, not a masterpiece by any mean but the opposite it is a niche version of a mass appealing musky freshness. The pepper, the musk, the freshness and the spices are so well made and super powerful with an orange leaves background this stuff is super versitile and super sexy , good bye creed Silver Mountain Water!
