Discovery Sets: Maison Crivelli - Chocs Olfactifs

So I walked through this amazing store called Skins the other day. I go there quite often, but I never really paid attention to the house of Maison Crivelli. It must be because the bottles seem pretty basic, almost soulless to me.

Anyway, somehow the purple bottle of Oud Maracuja caught my eye. Gave it a quick sniff and that smell didn’t let me go. I was determined to get to know Crivelli better, so I ordered this Chocs Olfactory discovery set which contains the heavy duty, high concentration perfumes. It’s 40€ including free shipping and you get a discount on your full bottle purchase.

There’s also an eau de parfum collection on which I will report later.

On to the perfumes! The following perfumes got delivered in 1.5ml sizes:

- Patchouli Magnetik
- Ambre Chromatique
- "Hibiscus MahaJád | Maison Crivelli"

On a general note, these perfumes are potent. They each have this certain power and attractiveness, but for me personally there were a couple that really stood out. I’ve got 5 likes (maybe even 2 loves), 2 meh’s and 1 hate. So that’s a pretty high score!

I’ll start positive: The Oud trilogy is to die for. So good. I’ve actually got a bit of Oud Cadenza on my shawl and I’m enjoying it so much each time I’m wearing it! The other two seem like a different take on the same theme: an Oud base with a twist (every one knows what oud smells like nowadays right?), be it fruity maracuja or the leathery rose of stallion.

Then there’s the lovely uplifting story of "Ingredients 072012 | Maison Crivelli". I’ll need that one to work tomorrow come to think of it, the cardamom will get me up and running and ready for the week.

Another love is for Ambre Chromatique, just for the intoxicating weirdness. You might see it as a concept perfume but it’s so nicely done.

The two I’m less enthusiastic about are the flower bombs "Hibiscus MahaJád | Maison Crivelli" and Tubéreuse Astrale. They’re marketed unisex but they’re so feminine, unwearable by me at least but I can imagine a powerful woman pulling this off.

And then there’s Patchouli Magnetik. What can I say.. It’s just too much. I wore it once, having regrets the whole evening. Even the next day, having had a shower and different clothes someone smelled an odd smell on me. Yikes! That was definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
