I don't have a lot of experience with coffee notes since I'm not a big fan of coffee in general. I do like the scent, but it's not something I drink nor something I necessarily want to smell on myself. Jousset has been pretty disappointing overall and seeing how it was rated here (6.7 at the time of this review), I had no expectations going in.

The beginning is okay. Creamy, milky latte with just a hint of dark, slightly bitter coffee. It was okay at first and a little bit reminscient of Vanilla Sky Eau de Parfum which I've smelled before and found okay too. After about 30 minutes, that's when things start to go downhill. A weird freshness rises up as the scent turns bitter and almost sour/acidic. The coffee note seems to be marred by something synthetic. I get some chocolate deep down, but it's sweet, but bitter at the same time. Just awful. There's that weird synthetic vanilla I've smelled in other Jousset perfumes that also rises up making this mix a bit nausea inducing. Not very enticing and even thoguh it was a gourmand smell at the beginning, there's no longer that gourmand facet.

I'm pretty sure there are better coffee fragrances out there, one of them being La Tacita de Café, in around the same price point. There are also cheaper options than this one I'm sure. It's definitely not a blind-buy and a real disappointment. My worst rated Jousset fragrance for now.

This is literally Banana Split with pears instead of bananas and cognac instead of that nutty drydown. A bit more synthetic and the dark, syrupy, almost bitter chocolate takes up a lot of place.

I'm pretty disappointed in Jousset fragrances overall. This is the fifth one I've been trying and none have struck me as memorable or wearable. Half of them are synthetic messes and some are better than others, but they haven't wowed me (and I do consider myself a gourmand girlie). Immediately at first spray, I get the chocolate syrup I smelled in Banana Split. It's dark, thick, syrupy, with that hint of synthetic. I start getting some pear and freshness somewhere in there, but it's muddled and I wouldn't have guessed it was pear if the note hadn't been written in front of me. I barely got any lemon zest note (which I'm seeing is probably a good thing since most people seem to dislike the opening of this fragrance). As it moves on, the dark chocolate partners up with a bourbon / cognac kind of smell. It smells like an alcoholic drink with chocolate syrup. If you've followed my reviews, you know I'm not a fan of alcoholic notes in fragrances, so this was an immediate nope. Drydown becomes more clear on the cognac, a little bit less dark chocolate, but there's some woodiness and a muskiness that grows on you, similar to Vanilla Musk Perfume Oil.

Alcoholic notes are a nope, synthetic accord here is a nope and overall the fragrance feels muddled and not masterfully well executed. I find it way too similar to Banana Split and even then, I preferred the Banana one over this one. This won't be making it into my collection. On to the next!

Might be the first Jousset I enjoy, although it won't be going into my collection. I do love a good chocolate note, but do I want to smell like banana split? Not so much.

I get a very lovely creamy banana note at the start of this fragrance which is not too synthetic to my nose. I will say, though I don't have much experience with banana in fragrances, I do it eat bananas on a daily base and the note was sufficiently realistic to me. I also start getting a strong chocolate note, the same one I've smelled in Dipped in Chocolate. Slightly dark, creamy, syrupy, reminiscent of a Hershey's Chocolate Syrup. There's also a nuttiness that can be found in this fragrance although I don't get from where it's coming since no nuts are listed in the notes. As it dries down, the chocolate becomes the main star while the banana note disappeared after the 10 minutes mark. It's pretty linear after that: dark chocolate, nuttiness and a hint of creaminess. I didn't get any vanilla, althoguh the fragrance was on the fresher side and not too heavy and thick.

It's probably one of the more realistic Jousset I've smelled up until now and even though I found it pretty realistic and not synthetic (compared to the others I've tried up until now), I don't think I'd like to smell this on myself. I definitely see it as an ambiance scent in a candle, but for me? Nah, I'm good. On to the next!

I'm a bit confugled by people mentioning "Casamorati - Lira (Eau de Parfum) | Xerjoff". To my nose, it's nowhere near the same (my boyfriend has a small bottle of it so I ran off to sniff it and compare). I'd say, in terms of quality and blending, Lira is way up on the gourmand/quality compared to Jousset.

No hate towards those who like Jousset, but I don't think their brand is compatible with my skin chemistry. Even thoguh African Queen is better than the first two I've tested from them, it's still not doing it for me. It has a weird synthetic note (accord?) in there that reminds me of the other ones I've tested. I do think it's on the more unique side with its dark, heady chocolate note mixed with a strong patchouli in the base. I barely get any florals and I get no lemon (which might be why the comparison with Lira doesn't make sense to me). There is a note of almond that adds some bitterness and powderiness, but I'd say the most apparent notes are the chocolate, the patchouli and the tonka; Dark chocolate, very strong, overwhelming, spicy patchouli and a powdery tonka note.

Overall, it's one of the better Jousset fragrance I've tested up until now, but nowhere near my need to add it to my collection. It's on the more unique side which is nice and people looking for a less sweet gourmand might lean into this one. Unfortunately, to me it smells too overwhelmingly patchouli and too synthetic for my taste.

Once again, I'm unfortunately blasted in the nose by unbalanced accords and a sweet, synthetic, candle-like vanilla. I was so sure this one was going to pass the test due to the yummy, juicy notes at the beginning.

Apricot and peaches are tart, tangy and quite frankly, very overwhelming. They have a sour quality to them, way less on the sweet side than what I was expecting. For a long while, both of these notes overshadow everything else. I do start getting some coconut, which is when this scent started reminding me of Sous L'Abricotier, but way more synthetic (and not as good). Vanilla comes in after a while, making this scent a very clear candle-like, synthetic thing. I thing Jousset's vanilla has a problem with my skin chemistry as it smells like a cheap candle or air freshner. In the deep drydown, I finally get a break when the fruity notes recede a bit and the vanilla takes a backseat in favor of a sweet, crumbly, pie crust note with creamy, salty butter. The drydown is beautiful, but marred by the synthetic vanilla.

I'm so disappointed. I usually love peaches and apricot in fragrances and I was hoping I'd love it here too. I think the vanilla Jousset uses might be the problem since it was very reminscient of the one I smelled in Accident à la vanille. I'm hoping things get better as I'm already two fragrances in and they've both been disappointments. Oh well, more money in my wallet, I guess.
