plasticky vinyl with a suggestion of orris
about me: 30s, introverted, nonbinary (perceived fem), working in medical.
format: eau de parfum
source: 5mL travel spray, mercari
year: unknown
price: $190 for 100mL
current season: winter, late morning
priming method: none
hydration level: moderate
application: light
masked: no
wet: third go-round with this one to see if i can make it past the opening. play-doh iris immediately turns into pure vinyl.
dry: 99% vinyl 1% iris. not the barest hint whatsoever of the listed green tangerine. this is not pleasant, but this is also eldo, and if i could force myself to stick it out with
O, Unknown! then i can force myself to stick it out here.
30 min in: not any better. still a plasticky vinyl with a suggestion of iris that actually makes things a little worse -- i think i could handle clean, sterile vinyl, but it's that hint of something waxy/creamy in combination that feels a little nauseating. im a fan of unique and unconventional scents, but not like this. i dont know if this is worse than
O, Unknown! but i refuse to ever put that one on again to compare.
1-3 hours in: gradually the ratio of iris to vinyl shifts until it is primarily a plasticky yet waxy/creamy iris, more of the root than the flower. it still isnt pleasant to smell, and none of the base notes have perceptibly come out to add any complexity/warmth. fairly disheartened as iris/orris is one of my favorite notes but i can almost never find a frag that gets it right* and despite loving this one on paper it's going in the dislike pile along with the super-sweet (
Blanc de Courrèges), the vaguely sickening (
Mono Cachemire), and the scrubber (
You Eau de Parfum). i have slightly higher hopes for
Soul of My Soul, but im beginning to think now that eldo just isnt the house for me.
4 hours in: cant deal with this any more. scrubbed.

transparent floral synthetic
about me: 30s, introverted, nonbinary (perceived fem), working in medical.
format: eau de parfum
source: 2mL scentsplit decant, direct
year: 2025
price: $150 for 100mL
current season: winter, early morning
priming method: none
hydration level: moderate
application: light

wet: second chance for this scent after an unimpressive first attempt. just applied it's bright, sharp, synthetic, floral but not identifiably jasmine, with a hint of cotton in the back. NOT a laundry scent, at least not at this point.
dry: a powdery floral thats giving
Sweet Honesty Cologne vibes. i dont know how something can manage to be simultaneously powdery AND sharp but this is adeptly succeeding at both. there's a hint of clean fabric about it but no soap. sillage is arm's-length.
Lazy Sunday Morning Eau de Toilette did not really register in my brain so i cant really compare the two. i like this marginally better than
C, which was essentially an ambroxan bomb (ugh) with a sprinkling of laundry detergent (bleh), but i dont actually LIKE it. it's too sharp and piercing for me, and because of that i wouldnt call it either hospital-friendly or a crowd-pleaser. this could technically be unisex but reads as ever-so-slightly feminine due to the nature of the scent (it's a very clean-girl-aesthetic kind of scent).
1.5 hours in: this has calmed down significantly and toned down on both the powder and sharpness. right now it's a light, transparent, dare i say almost pretty floral-forward scent (i still cant identify this note as jasmine per se, but maybe it's a completely non-indolic kind, or hedione, or something). i dont know if im picking up the musk or if this is just blended pretty well. at this stage, it's pleasant, hospital-friendly, most likely a crowd-pleaser.
3.5 hours in: faintest traces remaining. even though the longevity isnt the best, ive decided to hang on to this decant, at least for now, to see if it grows on me further.
verdict: keep

sickening curdled spoiled synthetic chemical
this is bad this is really really bad. sharp and biting and somehow curdling and chemical at the same time, i have never had a fragrance turn my stomach this violently AND it did it within 15 seconds of the first spray. i remember
Milk smelling nasty and synthetic at the start before it mellowed out and
Paper- being an instant scrubber but neither of them had the same combination of notes that makes this smell like disgusting rancid chemicals. not even
Not a Perfume Eau de Parfum which smells like whale jizz accord provoked this kind of physical revulsion i feel genuinely, legitimately sick
strong sillage and took 5 alcohol wipes and dawn soap to remove
not friendly for any situation or environment

exit, pursued by soap bar
about me: 30s, introverted, nonbinary (perceived fem), working in medical.
format: eau de parfum
source: 1.2mL sample, direct
year: 2025
price: $190 for 100mL
current season: winter, late evening
priming method: glycerin cream
hydration level: poor
application: light

wet: rose almost always goes to soap on me no matter the house or the fragrance format, so i have no idea why i got this. luckily(?), this doesnt open with rose but with a pepper/aldehyde combo that made me sneeze four times in a row (my lucky number!).
dry: theres something weird as hell in here and i cant tell what it is -- it's slightly savory/nutty but also kind of like sweat? maybe it's the various nuances to timur (aka rattan pepper) that im reading about? throw is less than arm's-length but i did spritz very lightly (the sample sprayers that eldo uses dispense a smaller amount than most other sprayers, which is great actually).
30 min in: everything has settled down into a like ... savory peppery floral soap? this is weird. it's not unwearable or offensive, but it's fucking weird. of course being eldo this is a feature, not a bug, but i could never wear this to work and i cant think of a place or occasion for which this WOULD be suited. this is in no way conventional (well, perhaps for toskovat enthusiasts) -- but this just means it's suited for unconventional people, any age, any gender, any presentation, as long as youre a little bit weird (it's me. im people).
1.5 hours in: forget everything i just said. now that the two peppers have faded, this is now a really normal, conventional, mildly soapy indeterminate floral. no sign of the base notes as of yet. i have no idea if im actually getting any rose because it's most likely just augmenting the soap -- ironically, it's actually LESS soapy on me than a bunch of other frags that dont include soap at all (
Tabu Rose Eau de Parfum,
Love, Chloé,
Don't Cry for Me,
The Lover tells of the Rose, etc, etc). at this stage, it's feminine and clean, office/hospital-friendly, a total crowd-pleaser. still a tiny bit offbeat, but it's nothing you wouldnt find at sephora. idk how i feel about this frag right now with this 180-degree change. maybe i could wear this to work if i planned it carefully?
2 hours in: why. is this somehow FRUITY. there is no fruit in the notes. WHY. am i smelling lychee, or apple, or whatever. what is WRONG with my skin. WTF
2.5 hours in: soap is gone. fruit is taking a backseat to patchouli/moss, and there's salty orcanox in the back and this combination of earthy salty fruity musk is, quite frankly, disgusting. eldo as a house has overall been working for me --
You or Someone like You is so far my only full-size purchase out of the 80-or-so designer/niche frags ive tried, and my decant of
The Ghost in the Shell is nearly empty -- but i dont know about this one. unfortunately, im involuntarily falling asleep, so no forthcoming data for the next few hours.
8 hours in: astonishingly still lingering the next morning at skin-scent levels, about an inch of throw, with the faintest occasional waft of scent. this almost seems to have gone in reverse -- it's back to primarily floral with the mildest tinge of soap, the base notes very far in the background to ground it. this has been A Journey, and i think i will need to try this at least one more time before making a final decision on whether to keep or swap.

shockingly decent bargain-bin iris
about me: 30s, introverted, nonbinary (perceived fem), working in medical. this is a repost of a previous review from the other fragrance site that shall not be named or condoned.
format: fragrance mist
source: direct purchase
year: 2025
notes: iris, rose, caramel musk
price: $3 for 75mL
current season: early autumn, evening
priming method: none
hydration level: moderate
application: light
masked: no
wet: iris is the note of hour so when it went on sale i had to get this. it's all alcohol and musk from the get-go.
dry: unlike
Velvet Cedar, which hit the skin and evaporated immediately, this is still here after 45 seconds. it's essentially a musk bomb, but it's a nice one. i generally dont care for b&bw's sugary confections so im pleasantly surprised by how subdued this is. 80% musk, with some light floral around the edges, and a hint of caramel rather than the whole vat.
1 hour in: scent has mellowed out and feels more harmonious and balanced. annoyed by how much i like this. soft, floral, not too sweet or overpowering. really nice and surprisingly classy for b&bw. skirting the edge of hospital-friendly but generally unlikely to offend. unambiguously feminine.
3 hours in: and we are back to being musk-forward. a little sharp, but not too bad. still liking this despite the shift. still annoyed with myself for liking it so much lol. i cant believe this is even still HERE, considering the concentration of oils here is probably eau fraîche or less.
3.5 hours in: idk when exactly it happened, but ive started getting a creamy iris feel from this and it's like --
Bois d'Iris???? is that you???? and thats wild because vc&a is $107 for 75mL and delicate iris is freaking. THREE UNITED STATES DOLLARS and i am not saying anything about the quality or craftsmanship or refinement being remotely equivalent but damn. when i finish my decant of vc&a i might just get 4 more of these dirt cheap suckers instead.
5 hours in: skin-scent levels. still really pretty. fml, now i gotta go buy more of these.
6 hours in: essentially gone.
