Not for me

When I first tried this at the shop, I loved it a lot. The second time I passed by and tried it, I didn't like it. I preferred Cedrus more and purchased it and got a nice free Chloe bag with it. The guy was also kind enough to give me a sample of this to take home and test, but I still didn't like it. I suggest you test it a few times before buying.

A very vintage smelling scent

As some who enjoys Black Opium (Le Parfum) I don’t think this is similar at all. This opens with a very vintage smell. I don’t know what notes I’m smelling, but it’s not to my taste. The dry down is a bit better, but it does become a skin scent relatively quickly. There’s a note that just doesn’t agree with me. I find this scent really dry and a bit nauseating. To me this smells more like an old fashioned tincture to cure an ailment, more than it does a perfume. Maybe it’s the styrax and cloves, I’m not sure but it’s a hard pass for me.

Black Opium for advanced users

Is Orchidée de Minuit a groundbreaking new fragrance? No.
Will many people like it? Unlikely.

For me, it's the bolder Black Opium, it dares more. The patchouli plays a dominant role here and gives it more grounding or depth. I don't find it musty; in combination with the clove and styrax, it evokes more of a licorice association, in the best sense.
The jasmine note is no less intense and does not steal the show, but is "darkened" by the rum and patchouli.
This makes it mystical, sexy, bold and seductive for me. An absolute fragrance for nights and evenings when women are fully aware of their feminine allure and want to play with it (while Black Opium is "let's see what happens", Orchidée de Minuit is "it will happen and I have chosen you to become a part of it").

As it progresses, it becomes "softer", "closer to the body", which for me completes the attraction of the fragrance.

My favorite from the new blue range. Lasts longer than average for me.
