Who is this Lui anyway?
The Almighty has gifted me with the opportunity to obtain perfume from Italy even before it officially reaches the hands of the mainstream barbarians north of the Alps. Out of a fundamental sense of gratitude for this, I occasionally indulge in a few amusing lines about the latest concoctions of northern Italian perfumers.
1. The scent.
Immediately friendly. Bright, citrusy, fruity, creamy. Grapefruit with a hint of delicate skin cream. Fresh and clean, just the way every mom likes it. The top note lasts around 3 minutes, then the resinous note joins in. Also unobtrusive, you could almost say gentlemanly if you had enough eloquence. In my humble opinion, a good balance has been found here, a pleasant addition. Now, at the latest, it could also pass as a high-quality shower gel due to its harmonious development. Not in a derogatory sense! I love shower gel and I still think that more people should be allowed to use shower gel.
Then little new happens for 4 hours. At the end, an oily celery note joins in and shows all participants where the Lui comes from. From the house of natural cosmetics. For this, however, the nose must also touch the place of the spraying process.
2. The exterior
Plagued by the fierce competition in the fragrance world, Lido decided to break completely new ground. Highly paid designers from New York, Ulan Bator and Port Moresby were flown in especially to design the flacon. After several months of ayahuasca ceremonies, the ingenious epiphany came: everyone does great, we do the opposite. As this was the only way to differentiate ourselves from the mainstream, we confidently opted for a fresh concrete gray. Chief designer Michele Paffutello thus succeeded in creating a bottle that was so meaningless in appearance that he actually forgot about it himself and only launched the spray bottle on the market no less than 45 years later.
L'Erbolario has thus achieved something that will remain enthroned like a veil over every new release for several decades to come.
Bravissimo!
