Easy reach scent

Tried Unwind yesterday morning and Kinetic for yesterday evening. Kinetic in this case is more of a spicy, mild incense woody fragrance as opposed to Unwind which was creamy/lavender/woody. Both are very pleasant, easy reach type of fragrances and rather generic. Neither wowed me.

Comparing the performance ratings, the consensus seems to be that Unwind has better performance than Kinetic. That was opposite my experience. Kinetic had quite good longevity for me although projection was more moderate, but still better than Unwind.

Kinetic is quite masculine and seems pretty versatile, working for most occasions, day/night and warm or cool weather.

Sort-of-Special Blend

Kinetic has a combination of notes that I’m not particularly familiar with, let alone comfortable wearing. What’s a pimento leaf supposed to smell like? I have no idea, since Kinetic is the only fragrance I’ve smelled that uses it. Immortelle is a floral that I’ve only smelled in Warm Bulb by Clue, and even there it’s harder for me to distinguish.

Perfumery is funny to me in that you can take a handful of unknowns and make something so familiar. Kinetic smells like the 90s to me, if that makes sense. It’s a masculine, woody, spicy 90s styled masculine fragrance with a unique opening and a mature dry down.

I think this fragrance works in formal settings, but only a couple sprays as it could choke someone up. The citrus lives as only a binder to the wood and smoke and it smooths it out fairly well. This is a very simple fragrance at the end of the day. The one of a kind notes are fun to try and pick out, but ultimately it’s sort of boring. People compare this to Dior Sauvage, but it’s a bit closer to the also compared Prada Luna Rossa Carbon in my opinion.

I think this would be a nice pick if you’re tired of the previously mentioned comparisons, or if that palatable DNA if something you’d like to expand your collection on, but I wouldn’t go broke over this one. Wait for a sale, or keep your eyes on the discounters (though I’ll say that about every fragrance lol).
