Interesting Facts
"Bottega Veneta" mainly stands for exclusive and high-quality fashion from Italy. The product range includes shoes, handbags, decoration, furniture, and jewelry, as well as accessories such as sunglasses, belts, cell phone cases, and wallets.
The history of "Bottega Veneta" began in 1966 in Vicenza, Italy, with Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro. The two entrepreneurs wanted their brand to produce a hand-picked collection of fine and unique leather goods. Among the most important designs (and at the same time unique selling point) became the braided leather pattern called "Intrecciato".
In 1972, the brand opened its first boutique in Manhattan, gradually expanding its offerings with new creations. In the late 1970s, the brand passed to Laura Braggion, the divorced wife of co-founder Michele Taddei. Under her direction, "Bottega Veneta" became a brand that enjoys great popularity mainly among celebrities and VIPs. The exquisite clientele included, for example, the former Empress Farah Pahlavi, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Andy Warhol.
The new millennium began for the brand with insolvency. Management errors and declining quality were the cause. In 2001 the company went to the "Gucci Group". Through numerous restructurings (especially in the management) and new product lines, the brand was successful again in the following years under the direction of Claus-Dietrich Lahrs (previously a chief designer at Dior and Boss).
The products are sold in the company's online store and its nearly 300 boutiques worldwide.
