It's Not About the Starfruit

Starfruits fall on a range of flavors and textures. The best is juicy, sweet, a little bit citrus, with just a bit of crunchy texture. The worst is a nearly flavorless watery crunch.

Where does Starfruit & White Flowers fall? It's not terrible, but the term "insipid" comes to mind. You get hints of what it could be, but you're left underwhelmed. The "white blossoms" is dominant to my nose. I can see where some people might interpret it as jasmine sambac (one completely devoid of indoles). I actually think orange blossom a little bit, but it reads more as a mystery white floral to me.

It's a pretty, fresh-white floral fragrance if you go into it without any expectations or experience with the real fruit. If you're looking for something that's really all about starfruit it will disappoint. I would have rated this higher if the starfruit hadn't been the supposed headliner.

4711 delivers another quite successful fragrance with not-so-great longevity

Wow, it’s incredible, I joined Parfumo a year ago and now I have written over 300 reviews. The "Acqua Colonia Starfruit & White Flowers | 4711" is a fragrance that I find quite pleasant, but unfortunately, as is often the case, it leaves much to be desired in terms of longevity and sillage. After 4 to 5 hours, you can hardly smell anything anymore.

The top note offers, in addition to starfruit, citrus hints of grapefruit and pomelo. The heart note provides a creaminess with jasmine flowers. And the base? I don't perceive much new. It still has a slight citrus scent but is rather weak. There could have been so much more... Why is it so weak? I don't understand...

In the end, it remains a rather summery fragrance that I would classify as more feminine than unisex. 4711 has really released some good stuff, but I find the longevity to be quite weak at times and almost a cheekiness...

4711 can also be creamy

I picked up Starfruit & White Flowers at the drugstore. I am a big fan of the Acqua Colonia line. I find it hard to pass by new releases from this brand, and if I like the scent, it ends up in my shopping cart.
This one starts off, as expected for a Cologne, quite alcoholic. It's best to turn your nose away when spraying, count to 10, and the alcohol scent will have already disappeared. The typical fresh smell found in the Acquas is only present at the beginning. After 30 seconds, it becomes fruity - sweet. Not sticky - sweet, but creamy - sweet. The scent is close to the skin and remains close to the skin. It is detectable on my skin for 3 hours. Over time, it becomes creamier. The starfruit remains as a special note, gradually fading into the background. For summer, it’s not a candidate for me. I would wear it most in spring.
It must be my nose, but it reminds me of Diamonds by Armani. This one is significantly stronger and not identical at all. But I perceive similar vibes.
