ATH is creatively maturing

I have 34 ATH fragrances in my collection and this is my new favourite.
This has a hint of PDM DNA in my opinion. Another house I really enjoy. As with all ATH fragrances this lasts forever and is of high quality ingredients.
I get very beautiful oud and rose combo that projects beautifully from my body. There is no ATH down and dirty accords in this one.
A very beautiful fragrance that I have no qualms wearing all year round.

Oud rose powerhouse

So I learned from this that I am not an oud guy. But even though I’m not a fan of the scent I can tell it’s high quality oud. Starts off as an oud bomb and then the rose kicks in and it turns into an oud/rose combo with a bunch of other stuff in the background I personally can’t dissect, but I am an amateur nose I am not trying to say it’s blended bad. The quality is actually very good in my opinion.

I made a mistake of spraying this on myself like 6 times and it was projecting like crazy for the whole 5 hours or so before I decided to scrub it ( and it was NOT easy to get off ). I am pretty sure I coulda got atleast 8-10 of solid projection if not more if I did not scrub it. It is without a doubt a beast mode fragrance that you probably shouldn’t spray more than 2-3 times. Same ballpark as sauvage elixir in terms of performance, maybe even a little stronger.

If you are an oud fan I think you should sample this. If you aren’t then yea you probably won’t like this. I was hoping for something a little sweeter haha.

Still gotta give props to ATH though. I love raw cherry and hard candy elixir and will continue to try his stuff out over time.

Rosa, rosa, rosam, Rosae, rosae, rosa, rosae, rosae, rosas, rosarum, rosis, rosis…

I finally received my 10 ml and could’nt wait to try it after so many praises on internet. I spayed it on and… immediately thought about Jacques Brel’ song “Rosa” (Yes I’m Belgian and old enough to know it). For me this scent profile incarnates this song and as the lyrics say “C’est le plus vieux tango du monde”: Rose and oud.

Except that in this dance, Rose is definitely leading. Picture a tall beautiful Argentinian in a scarlet red dress and high hills, waltzing a small discreet and tame partner with a small moustache and old black suit. “She” is fierce, loud, attracting the light and “he” is not even a supporting act, trying to exist.

The scent opens quite strongly on the rose which is… well absolute. And absolutely present through the opening, middle and dry-down of this perfume. Maybe less prominent in the dry-down but still there with a faint touch of chocolate and oud.

Projection is good (thank god I only sprayed it on my arm) and longevity is above average.
I just realised that I’m not a big fan of Rose in general and I get why people don’t like this combo or refer to it as “Old Grandma scent”. If you like rose, this scent is for you.

For me, the rose was just too much, almost inducing an head ache. So not only this long lasting scent is hurting my head, I cannot remove this chorus from my head: Rosa, rosa, rosam….

Overpriced and Overhyped

With all the glowing reviews, I expected something outstanding, but this fell flat for me. The rose feels dry and powdery, almost vintage, and leans into that “grandma perfume” vibe. The ambergris and oud are there, adding a slight animalic touch, with a faint resemblance to ATH Oud, but nothing groundbreaking.
Honestly, it feels more like hype than substance. The limited production and shipping just seem to create artificial demand, and the price for 50 ml is well above even Roja fragrances. For that cost, I was hoping for something much more special.

Longetivity is average, strong first 2h projection and became skin scent after 6h. I think Hard Candy Elixir last a little bit longer on me.

a bold, sensual rose-oud

I love perfumery, but I really struggle with its commercial side:
the flankers, the endless versions — eau de parfum, parfum, elixir, elixir-parfum…
The number of permutations feels almost like a math problem.

So, needless to say, I was skeptical when I saw this version of a fragrance I already own (and at that price!).

Owning both might seem redundant… yet it offers a rare perspective: witnessing a perfumer’s evolution.

Aaron Terence Hughes gives us here a bold, sensual rose-oud, with just the right touch of animality (and yes, it’s definitely present). A hint of chocolate and plum adds body and roundness without heaviness — a signature of ATH — all carried by high-quality synthetics.

The rose remains strong and vibrant throughout the dance, while the oud stays in the background, discreet yet supportive.

Does this reconcile me with the trend of flankers?
No.
But this fragrance has the merit of knowing exactly what it wants — and declaring it loud and clear.
