Ganymede's Odyssey with the Khanjar
It was clear to me that I had to order the two new Amouage releases "blind" as soon as I saw the fragrance pyramid on the premise that Quentin was back at Amouage.
That's a bisch! Were my first thoughts when I first sniffed Decision.
Clearly Amouage's take on creating a fragrance as extraordinary and indescribable as Ganymede. Although the fragrances are by no means similar, they have that typical Bisch signature that I missed in Quentin's first two releases at Amouage. Here, the incense dominated too much for me to understand the fragrances at all. For my nose, Quentin has developed a new bestseller for Amouage here.
For me, the fragrance starts round with a dominant juniper berry, which is joined by some citrus and pepper, with the beautiful cardamom that was skillfully played out in previous releases such as #lustre. Later, Amouage's signature frankincense and a beautiful Atlas cedar are subtly added, which keeps the fragrance from being too cool and metallic and gives Decision more depth, warmth and minimal resinousness.
With all the fragrance notes that can be clearly identified here, Decision is also wonderfully blended, typical of Amouage, and none of the notes are distracting at any time.
What am I alluding to with my headline? The overall concept is that this is a novel, modern fragrance in which Ganymede was one of the pioneers.
Quite cool, clanking, metallic, "galactic" and also quite synthetic.
Nevertheless, typical of Amouage, it is very far removed from other brands and inspirations, nothing is attempted to be copied here.
H/S are out of this world, galactically good!
Conclusion: Decision is very independent and has the potential to become a signature fragrance. Those who like previous Bisch releases such as #Ganymede #Bois Imperial or #Tilia and can cope with the synthetics will also like Amouage's interpretation very much.
