Nightmare
Annayake mainly creates gentle, elegant fragrances. Nothing that jumps straight into your face. Nothing that scares you. Nothing that screams "HERE!" Almost everything from the portfolio of the pseudo-Japanese (and in truth French) brand prefers to take a step back and skillfully paints the background, accentuating the appearance and supporting the impression. This has led to many beautiful fragrances from the house, such as "Omizu for Him / お水 | Annayake / アナヤケ", "Mood for Harmony Man | Annayake / アナヤケ", "Kagari for Him / かが | Annayake / アナヤケ", or "Undō / 運動 (Eau de Toilette) | Annayake / アナヤケ", which spread calmness and sensuality with their subtle presence.
"Mood for a Dream Man | Annayake / アナヤケ" remains true to the brand in its softness and quiet play. Nevertheless, it manages to almost completely repel me.
It delivers the brackish water aquatic that I so despise. The entire fragrance consists of it. What a beautiful dream it could have been if it hadn't drowned in poorly staged dihydromyrcenol. "Spray" is what this crime of a fragrance note is called here, and it dominates the entire scent, from beginning to end. Rosemary, coriander, and moss can still be sensed, but I no longer perceive the patchouli.
The result can be described as green, murky, stagnant lake water - a lake that has already turned. Alongside the overwhelming aquatic, you get some spice and, I admit, this slight, gentle freshness that characterizes so many fragrances from the house. All of this, of course, only serves the aquatic support.
This fragrance is a complete disappointment. It is repulsive, it makes me feel sick. I would have preferred to wipe it off my hand, but my curiosity about the performance was stronger. Solid sillage, lasting 2 hours. After 6 hours, just barely close to the skin. For the price, it's okay, and the beautifully designed bottle adorns any bathroom wall. Just for the decoration, the thing is still too expensive.
If you like condensed, refreshed Cool Water Eau de Toilette (but without green notes and significantly more disgusting), you might find pleasure in this. I do not - and I am glad to have woken up from this terrible nightmare.
