Boucheron pour Homme Boucheron 2011 Eau de Toilette

I'll put this review in this version, as I tried the version made by Inter Parfums and a more recent batch, and not the older versions by the original company or L'Oreal.

I had the chance to try this some time ago, I saw the notes and I was hoping to try it before I bought it. After trying it I didn't end up buying it and probably won't, but it is nice.

The opening is very citrusy but not overwhelming, and as it dries down it goes through a ton of different phases - floral, slightly green and aromatic, citrus coming and going, before eventually settling to a powdery woody musk. I found the way it changes really interesting, and it really drew me in.

Having tried a few more fragrances now, in a lot of ways, it feels similar to 60s masculine powerhouses like Eau Sauvage or Habit Rouge, but with some of the cliches of masculine fragrances of the 80s. It's definitely dated, but it feels classy and gives me a nostalgic feeling somehow. It smells like something my dad used, though I don't remember ever seeing a bottle of this stuff at home.

The dry-down is quite strong and it stayed on my skin for many hours through hand washing. I went to the gym on the day I tried it, and it was even stronger there. Considering you can get this for around 60 AUD for 100mL, I'd say it's pretty excellent value with that in mind. It's not for me as I would prefer something a bit more expressive of myself, but it is admittedly a very nice scent.

The Boucheron pour Homme (1989) Eau de Toilette is the first men's fragrance from the Boucheron brand, released in 1989, a year after the Boucheron (1988) Eau de Parfum for women. What can the 2011 version Boucheron pour Homme (2011) Eau de Toilette do with this classic men's fragrance?

Upon spraying, you get an intensely citrusy and slightly spicy top note. The Boucheron here immediately feels very old-fashioned, and the citrus opening inevitably brings to mind associations with toilet cleaner. I am aware of the history of this fragrance DNA (citrus scents came first, toilet cleaners with this scent came later), but that doesn't change the fact that I find these fragrances rather dusty and can hardly wear them at all. In the top note, you definitely get a very strong lemon along with a slightly weaker bergamot, and the verbena pushes the scent a bit more into the spicier and herbaceous direction.
As it develops further, it becomes spicier and soapier. The coriander is very pronounced here, while the basil is weaker.
In the dry-down, the fragrance becomes a bit woodier and smokier due to sandalwood and patchouli.

The longevity on my skin has been quite good for an EDT; it would be interesting to see the differences compared to the EDP. The sillage is also rather strong for a fresh scent; I think you can absolutely overspray it, making it a bit too much of a good thing.

I really like the bottle. Of course, the cap is very eye-catching, but the overall design is classic, and the bottle is also of high quality. The sprayer works extremely well and evenly. I simply like the bottles from this brand very much overall.

Overall, the Boucheron pour Homme (2011) Eau de Toilette is clearly an old-fashioned citrus-spicy fragrance. From my perspective, it is definitely the better alternative to "Pour Monsieur (Eau de Toilette) / A Gentleman's Cologne / For Men | Chanel," which I find quite unpleasant, almost reminiscent of insect repellent. However, I have also realized that this citrus DNA from the 70s and 80s is absolutely not for me, and I would rather leave these fragrances to others. My grandpa, for example, could wear this scent wonderfully, and I would certainly like it very much on him, but my grandma would definitely have a different opinion.

It's quite strange that this wonderful fragrance seems to have so few fans here.
Only about 50 perfume enthusiasts claim it as their own. Perhaps that will change soon...
I stumbled upon it rather by chance while watching a video about "Jaïpur Homme (Eau de Toilette) | Boucheron."
Since I wasn't familiar with this brand at all, I took a little look around and came across the Pour Homme from Boucheron.
Unfortunately, there wasn't much to find out, but my interest was piqued.
So, once again, I took a blind leap in the Souk and just a few days later, I held this treasure in my hands.
So how does it smell?

Above all, wonderfully citrusy.
And no, there’s no cleaner or toilet block to be found here. No worries!
It has a very rounded and natural scent. Fresh, with slightly green and soapy nuances, then in the heart still citrusy, but here a bit more reminiscent of verbena.
It lasts surprisingly long until the patchouli and a bit of sandalwood come through, forming the base of this EDT.

The longevity can be described as really good, especially for such a fresh fragrance.
7-8 hours are definitely achievable on the skin.

Who would I recommend it to?
Anyone who likes Colonia Eau de Cologne or Pour Monsieur Eau de Toilette can purchase this without hesitation.
I have all three fragrances here, and if I had to choose one, I would always reach for the Boucheron.
The citrus notes simply last much longer than in the other two, and in terms of price/performance ratio, it also comes out on top. €40/100ml is really well spent here.

So, anyone looking for a nice gentleman's fragrance for a modest price should definitely give this one a try.

First: I picked up this fragrance for 7 euros at a flea market, and the bottle was nearly full. Therefore, the price-performance ratio here is a solid 10 for me, because I got a high-quality scent for little money - regardless of whether I will like it for the rest of my life.

Now, onto the rest. The bottle is a bit too flashy for my personal taste, and the plastic cap makes it feel somewhat cheap. However, it is nice and flat, making it easy to transport in a toiletry bag (or to hide in the cupboard among the other bottles).

The scent itself is pleasant, especially pleasantly simple. I think I can slightly detect the listed fragrance notes. It starts off strongly citrusy, then transitions into floral-herbaceous, and bids farewell with earth and wood. However, this farewell takes its sweet time. I applied it several times in the early evening to try it out and sometimes still caught a whiff of it by the next morning. Moreover, it stays close to me; I hardly leave scent clouds in other rooms - which I personally prefer.

All in all, I find this fragrance to be "high-quality, but risky." Risky, - from here on, everything should be understood as purely subjective - because I associate it with many things that don't necessarily have a place in my (perfume) world: heaviness, seriousness, conservatism, a bit of patriarchal, old-fashioned vibes. A scent that can make one appear older than they actually are and can even feel a bit "dusty."
This is the kind of fragrance I would only wear for myself when I'm sitting around in the home office, or when I'm out and happen to come into contact with other people rather than intentionally. Additionally, I would never wear this fragrance in combination with a suit or any other type of formal clothing - that would be too strict.
I'd rather play around with the scent now in summer and wear it with shorts, an oversized shirt, and sneakers. This creates a nice contrast between the olfactory and the visual.
