Oud Ginger
I love the scent of freshly cut ginger! This freshness, spiciness, and brightness have a truly pleasant effect. In perfumes, ginger is rarely used as prominently as in Oud Radieux. I have never smelled anything so authentic before!

At the beginning, the ginger clearly dominates, but soon the pepper can also be filtered out. The whole thing is served on a woody base, which I would describe as saffron-oud. The yellow spice is not exactly my friend, and the oud comes across as slightly dusty, but fortunately, it has a bright character and is free from any animalistic note. I also feel a bit reminded of spiced tea. Despite the spiciness, I find Oud Radieux to be very warm and easily approachable, densely woven yet simple.

I find it doubtful that real oud was used here - and if so, then only in extremely small doses. As my predecessor already mentioned, the question is actually obsolete as long as the 'right' scent effect is achieved, but here I have mixed feelings: Oud Radieux seems a bit too simple to me despite all its naturalness; it lacks an additional component that rounds out the fragrance. Furthermore, the initial freshness is somewhat limited, and it quickly focuses on the spicy and resinous-woody side. The longevity is quite good, but for an oud fragrance, it is not outstanding, and the initially strong projection becomes relatively close to the skin quite quickly. Oud Radieux can probably be worn in almost any situation, but the price is too inflated for that.

The journey is far from over!
As long as there are fragrances like this one from Cartier, the topic of Oud is far from exhausted! This scent rather shows what is still possible with this note! My feeling tells me that the phase is over where every (designer) brand needed to have an Oud fragrance in their lineup, where an Oud scent was displayed in the window at all costs. I believe that only now are the truly great Oud fragrances hitting the market, as there has been more than enough experimentation!
Oud Radieaux is truly remarkable, I would empty my bank account just for the top note. Let's keep it short, the top note is absolutely stunning, a fragrance explosion where everything is too late!!! Spicy-sharp and slightly fruity-sour ginger like 5 o'clock from Serge Lutens, combined with an Oud note that could be from Amber Aoud by Roja or Oud Wood by Tom Ford. Mild, sweet, subtle, and rounded... and yes, before the ultimate Oud freaks come back... I don't care if this is a "real" Oud, extracted from Mars, or if it's Laotian or chaotic Oud, or comes from the lab... it smells amazing!!!
Wow... I'm blown away... flattened... an incredible experience and never smelled anything like this in such a combination.
The beautiful and quirky pepper gives the fragrance depth and support... this is niche per excellence for me!
The ginger unfortunately says goodbye after about 30 minutes, at least its fruity-sour part, the spiciness remains, but is accompanied by beautiful woods, I don't want to commit, but it could very well be Mysore sandalwood... it has somehow a creamy touch... wonderful!!!
After 8 hours, this unique fragrance experience comes to an end, the sillage is very good, but not an intrusive loudmouth. What’s truly shocking is the incredible price; I wanted to order it spontaneously and was on the Cartier website... OMG... 339€ for 50, 75, 100ml (there's no indication of the bottle size), but it should be a maximum of 100ml... that hits right in the heart... in that price range, I would rather go for Amber Aoud by Roja... if my earlier bypass allows it... :-( I think I need to meditate for a moment to calm down... high blood pressure at my age is dangerous;-)!

EDIT 21.01.18

After I have the bottle and have worn it several times, my initial euphoria has somewhat subsided, still a great scent, but I don't feel as comfortable with it anymore, perhaps the topic of Oud is less or more over for me...?!?

An uplifting, yet powdery, spicy earthy-woody Spring fragrance, with a pungent citric-spicy opening. Ginger galore! Unique, yet masculine.

Spicy, woody-resinous, slightly earthy with ambery touch and citric-aquatical background freshness. Discreet and fine.

Smells like a ginger shot from a health food store, but with Cartier’s signature, beautiful oud note in the background and as its backbone

It’s discreet ultra elegant and not something I would’ve that would work combing ginger and oud. Avant garde oud. Ten years later and still surprises.

Cartier Perfumes: the start of a good song, that's never finished.
Quality blended, ginger with quiet oud, extremely shy. Way overpriced

A unique twist on the oud note, adding in ginger and pepper to give it a spicy edge, though I feel the oud plays second-fiddle in this one.

Oud for the timid. Since it's hardly noticeable here, I find the scent okay.
Actually, it's a somewhat one-dimensional ginger soda...

Radiating from the depths: soft black oud sparkles, a cooling warmth on your skin, a tingle in your nose, a glow in the corner of your eye.

It's kneeling-worthy. I'm not the biggest Oud fan, but with the peppery ginger and citrus note, it's just grand!
