Cold / Dewy / Delicate ʕ •ᴥ•ʔゝ
White florals are usually too much for me — I do like them, I think they're the sexiest thing a man can wear (my boyfriend has Do Son and it always makes me howl incessantly) but most of the times they're super saturated and give me headaches...until I found Gardenia - fresh, and ethereal, like a dream... the only white floral that I can ever wear, the only one that truly suits me as a person. Soft but present. The cold beauty of early Spring in a bottle.

Les Exclusifs de Chanel are truly the best thing that happened to me as an enthusiastic perfume sniffer and now I'm afraid I'll never go back: even with their ridiculous price increases. The juice is too good!! Their 200ml bottles should win all of the design awards that are out there...

Gleaming Strawberry-Tinged Gardenia
Chanel's Gardenia is one of the original fragrances that was then rolled into the Les Exclusifs line. This is a prim, warm gardenia with a fruity note reminiscent of strawberry at the outset. As it dries down the fruitiness dissipates and a freesia like note joins the gardenia along with a bit of gentle, fatty musk and orris. The overall effect is a clean and polished, with almost gleamy 'white' feel, that also ends up being just a tiny bit reminiscent of shampoo. On it's own this stands out as as a slightly atypical offering from what the average consumer associates with Chanel, however I feel that Polge was smart to build other fragrances around this historic pillar such as Beige and 1932 which allowed for a more seamless fit within the Les Exclusifs line.

She Has Her Hands Full!
This sits heavy on my skin, overwhelmed by a bushel of gardenias and non-gardenias, though it was mostly the latter that pushed through. There is a classical floral-sweetness that is delicate and not offensive in any way. The very idea of this scent wafting through the warm air around me was incredible. However, I found it to soon become... basic?

I shouldn't really call it basic. A better word could be formulaic, since Chanel has been in the game long enough to have written the formula this perfume is based off of. It fails to impress me, refresh me, or invoke a full bottle at such a price point. I am lucky enough to have enough white florals in my collection that impress me or suit my tastes. Gardenia loses her nominal charm after an hour, focusing instead on a healthy foundation of smell-good aromas.

Nostalgic beauty
What a beauty! The quality of Chanel fragrances is just impeccable. Gardenia is such an addictive floral bouquet, with a touch of sweetness and greenness. I cannot even tell you specifically what I smell since I always perceive this perfume as a coherent floral composition in which nothing bothers me, nothing sticks out. It is nostalgic yet not old-fashioned, it does not scream but lasts for a long time, and it smells to me like wealth, elegance, and good taste. I do not smell aldehydes and iris in this fragrance, typical notes for Chanel, but it is still very recognizable as Chanel, somehow. I think Gardenia is very likable, and it is still one of my favorites from the Exclusif collection. Sometimes that is all I want: a beautiful, good-quality fragrance that accompanies and cheers me up all day.

Good-Mood-Flowers
Gardénia opens with bright aldehydes, quickly replaced by gentle green notes and radiant white flowers. The perfume is creamy and somehow lifts your spirits when applied. As it develops, the fragrance becomes drier and a warm woody base begins to hover beneath the white flowers. Over time, Gardénia Eau de Parfum becomes increasingly sweeter... and can sometimes, unfortunately, come across as overly sweet, at times even synthetic.

White floral with subtle green and fruity tones. Nice but pretty standard and nothing particularly “Chanel”

Good but not particularly noteworthy. Straightforward white florals with some green notes backing them. Not too powdery, very fresh.

Wedding scent. Just ethereal beauty and nothing more. Soft feminine beauty from first sniff. Middle/drydown accentuate a floral heaven.

A sweet white flower with honey and some dried fruit. Femenine and light.

Perfumey white florals with a hint of fruits that dry down into a nice sweet and floral finish.

A much too underrated Chanel fragrance. If you like floral scents, you definitely need to try this. Light, easy-going, and wonderfully creamy and elegant.

Fresh-greenish painted flowers. No coconut for me, at most citrus fruits and not too much sweetness. Surprisingly refreshing*
