Recently, the travel package with the Commodity fragrances arrived at my place. Now that the samples from the D.S. & Durga travel package are slowly running out (and yes, there will be a lot of comments about the fragrances to follow, ugh that sounds like I’m really a nuisance here… :D), I can slowly start to tackle the Commodity fragrances. And today, I’m commenting on the scent with the simple name “Bergamot”.
With the simple fragrance name, “Bergamot”, I expected a fresh, citrusy scent. And fresh and citrusy it is. I just didn’t expect it to smell so incredibly good.
Right from the first sniff, it was clear: This is going on my “Good Summer Scents” list!
And also right from the first sniff, it was clear: My cat is going to hate it :D
So, now let’s get to the fragrance description.
The Fragrance:
Wow wow wow, what a beautiful bergamot you smell at the beginning! It is wonderfully refreshing, citrusy, invigorating, and even reminds a bit of green tea. Along with it comes the lovely mandarin, specifically the delicious, slightly sweet flesh of the fruit. Although it seems there’s a bit of the bitter peel in there too. In any case, the top note is fresh and has something sparkling about it. I can also smell the mint well; it gives an additional freshness kick with a wonderfully fragrant note.
For a while, the scent remains beautifully citrusy, with the mint later smelling a little stronger than the bergamot, but that’s okay because the fragrance is still really nice. Meanwhile, a very slight sweetness flashes through, which provides a slight variation from all the citrus notes; however, without the fragrance pyramid, it’s really difficult to realize that this sweetness comes from jasmine.
Even in the later base, you can still smell the citrus notes, which continue to smell fresh. The mint is also still a bit detectable and gives the impression that you are drinking a delicious refreshing drink with mint leaves in it.
The Sillage and Longevity:
The projection is quite good for a citrus scent, at least at the beginning. It’s clear that this unfortunately doesn’t last… Of course, the sillage quickly diminishes, especially on cold days, but I think it will project much better on hot days.
Unfortunately, the longevity is only two to three hours; after that, the scent is quite weak.
The Bottle:
The bottle is round or rather cylindrical, and the glass is semi-transparent. It is filled with a yellow fragrance liquid that you cannot see here in the Parfumo picture (yet). The label is modern-simple and gray, with the fragrance name visible in white. The cap is chrome-plated and cylindrical. All in all, it’s a bit too simple, but still okay.
Wow, the scent is wonderful!
Well, first of all, I should say that you obviously have to like citrus scents to enjoy this fragrance. And if you like citrus scents, then this has become a wonderful fragrance for you. Because it is just sparkling fresh, all the fragrance notes smell authentic, and I can well imagine that it must feel fantastic on very hot days!
It has something of those citrus scents from Hermès like (Concentré) d’Orange Verte, which are also totally great summer fragrances. For some, this scent (and similar scents) might seem a bit too simple, but I find it excellently done. I would definitely recommend trying this fragrance!
This citrusy freshness, of course, comes at a price. And I’m not talking about the price of the fragrance. But about your cuddly scratchy creatures. Mine certainly doesn’t like citrus scents at all, so he doesn’t come near me when I wear such a fragrance. Even if I place treats in front of me, he approaches with squinted eyes, quickly gulps down the treats, and seeks to escape, only to look at me offended from three meters away because I’m wearing something he doesn’t like :D
So at least I get a bit of peace from him every now and then :D … *sigh* Poor thing, he just wants to cuddle, but on the other hand, he often scratches and bites, so a little break from him can do me good to let my arms recover :D
