first they’re sour, then they’re…sour?
i don’t have much experience with donna karan besides cashmere musk and various flankers from the be delicious line. i was sort of hoping this was going to be a freshie shampoo floral as i’m starting to really enjoy those and don’t have a lot in my collection. i find that it starts fairly green and a bit sour; the rhubarb is prominent, crisp and pretty dry. it runs more unisex than i was expecting until you hit the heart notes and the florals take over (about five-ten minutes of wear for me). it’s a powdery, rose-heavy experience for sure, still very green and not at all sweet to my nose. after all is said and done you get a mild and unobtrusive musk but i had to struggle through a tangy, umami element that i really didn’t like to get there. my nose is not particularly developed so i won’t guess as to which note is at fault and i will say my body chemistry tends to highlight the bitter and the herbaceous. in the bottle cap i’m getting a much fruitier, juicier, rhubarb focused experience—a distant, drier cousin of phlur’s mood ring. for a $20 blind buy it’s not bad but as a recovering gourmand girl i don’t think it’s for me.
