Brand Magic Flute
We have a saying for girls who have a very ample bosom that looks appetizing as long as it is properly supported. It goes, "she's wearing a bra brand Magic Flute. Once you take it off, the magic is gone."
This came to mind immediately with Lychee, because for a second, the sample presents the fruitiest, most natural, most appetizing lychee you can imagine. Just like it was freshly peeled from the shell. I was just about to think, "How did Demeter manage to do this so well and naturally this time?...", when the thing transforms into such a horrifically synthetic fruit mush that even Escada fruit waters would seem like high-class fragrances in comparison.
Now, some might say, what do you expect from a Demeter fragrance?! But that's not entirely true. Because even though Demeter is known for synthetics, there are some scents that truly convey what you expect from the name of the fragrance. Whether it's Pure Soap, Laundromat, Grass, Lavender Martini, Fig Leaf, etc. ... what's on the label is what's inside.
Not so with Lychee: barely applied, the magic is gone!
Some things are indeed better left unopened! ;-)

10% for the cheer that got stuck in my throat after a second.
