tropicale
Escale a Parati is inspired by Brasil, and I can see why, coz it reminds me of a pina colada in the opening notes. I should say there is coconut and pineapple in its notes, but it isnt. The opening is very fresh and citrusy, like a good cologne would smell like, but when it dries down, it gets a minty note in it almost like a mojito. The scent stays fresh, but there is the redberrie and cinnamon that makes the scent slightly warmer, but still so suitable for warm weather. This is my favorite of the Escales, and I think I will wear it a lot in hot summer days.

Journey to Rio
Escale a Parati is almost the newest offshoot of the line and fits with its South American interpretation of the classic EdCs like no other this summer and in the weeks before and after. Oh how I’m excited for samba, football, and the Copa Cabana... but that’s more for the off-topic forum.

Parati is a pool party scent, a summer scent, a waterfall scent, a beam of light scent, a cocktail scent, a beach party scent, a unisex scent, a sunbather scent, a mint scent, a refreshing drink scent, a cool scent, a hot scent, a classic cologne scent, a scent with a special kick, a citrus scent, a sour-makes-you-smile scent, a hidden gem scent, a quick splash scent, a recommendable scent that is worth its money!

Bottle: the mint green color hits the Caipirinha right on the head.
Sillage: for casual wear and after showering.
Longevity: 5 hours - it seems all Escales have to struggle with this.

In a way, it’s the more refined, mature CK One Summer 2014. Or also comparable to the new Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Limon Verde. And even from this trio, the most stylish scent!

When a fragrance is a family...
“I want to play,” calls the lemon exuberantly to the bitter orange. The latter hops along excitedly, and both frolic wildly and joyfully in the sunlight.
“I want to join too!” complains the bergamot, trying to catch up with the two.
“You can’t play with us, we don’t want you here, we’re already complete without you! Three is one too many!” taunt the lemon and bitter orange in unison.
Dejected, with drooping shoulders and a trailing scent tail, the bergamot walks away.
Meanwhile, the two gossiping sisters are having a great time, scenting the heat of the day and shining brightly.
The already youthful mint watches the lively antics of the two little ones, shaking her head for a while, until it becomes too much for her. “Now both of you come here, in this heat, let’s have some cooling mint water first, or you’ll just collapse on me!”
With loud protests, the playful antics stop in favor of the promised refreshment; a wise decision, given how heated both are.
With a warning finger, the mint instructs both to enjoy themselves in the cool shade under her supervision from now on, which - of course again amid fierce protests - they eventually do.
With a watchful eye, the mint observes how the game of the two little fools becomes calmer, no longer quite so loud, no longer quite so unruly, but rather more peaceful and gentle.
And as time drips slowly away in the afternoon heat, the adult tonka bean, the already experienced cinnamon, and the calming rosewood join in. The three surround the playing little ones, inquire with the mint about the course of the day, and decide that it is now time for the little ones to settle down.
Lemon and bitter orange, exhausted from their hours of play, offer little resistance and lie down on the bed made by the mint, while cinnamon, tonka bean, and rosewood harmoniously begin to sing a soft lullaby.

BENDING, BENDING, BENDING, I say!
It remains a mystery to me why the Escales by Dior are often pushed aside on the shelf or lead a dusty and neglected existence on the bottom shelf. I like them all, each in its own way. Unfortunately, they share a frustrating characteristic: they don’t really stay with me for long, but are rather light-hearted and carefree companions that can be quickly carried away by the wind. Apparently, nomen omen, and the scent only makes a pit stop with me. However, I can enjoy this short visit with all my heart, as it is not one-dimensional and flat, but proves to be complex and takes some surprising turns. At the beginning: citrus summer water, a beautiful lemon-bergamot mix - not bitter-dull but zesty-creamy. Mint can also be clearly sniffed out. So far so good: lemon, bitter orange, bergamot, and mint: it’s a tried-and-true recipe for summer. But wait, what is that? Clearly CINNAMON and vanilla! Well, hello, why so suddenly? Christmas songs in midsummer??? After I recovered from the initial shock, my nose literally starts to smile. What a cheerful, unpretentious, cheeky scent! Delicate woods mix in, and “Escale a Parati” manages to be cool and warm, zesty and sensual, fizzy and creamy all at once.
And there it is, the rascal: right on my wish list for next summer!
PS I had to move up the fragrance purchase because I learned at the Dior counter today that the scent is being discontinued. What a pity!

Himmelsleiter
Yesterday, my friend brought me Escale a Parati.

Escale? If my kitchen Spanish doesn't fail me, that's a staircase.
Paraty is, according to Google, a city in Brazil.

But I don’t have to travel that far, because the scent takes me straight to Hamburg.
I lived there on a parallel street to the "world famous" Elbchaussee, and I only had to cross it to get to the "Himmelsleiter" - a steep staircase that led directly to the Elbe beach.

I loved descending it with my dog to sit in the sand and watch the "Pötte" glide into the harbor basin like pearls on a string.
Ships the size of apartment buildings were safely maneuvered in there.
Sonorous names adorned their bows: Saratoga, Montevideo, Panama ...

And from the deck, the sailors waved cheerfully at me.
This scent from the "Gateway to the World" is captured in Escale a Parati.

Aquatic notes and cool neroli greet me - the scent of the Elbe water, over which the fresh wind blows.
Lemon and mint emphasize the freshness of this place.
Rosewood adds exoticism and exclusivity - and the cinnamon is lively like the hustle and bustle at the harbor.
The tonka bean is soft and helps me dream of distant lands.

I lean back in the warm sand and think - travel.

Flawless citrus-mint summer refresher. It's well done, wonderfully cooling, and charmingly reminiscent of similar scents from the 70s. Good!

Citrusy - powdery - elegant - soft - warm - sweet .... a bit of everything, but never too much. Lovely dominance from a hypnotically beautiful pillar.
