Smoked Mustard
I am sure that this Ella K. is also very well made. However, it doesn't quite suit my nose. In Namibia, there are the Epupa Falls. Mentally, I associate Africa with heavy, dark, woody fragrance notes, so the name is actually quite fitting.
Tested on a cotton pad, I wanted to give Epupa a second chance by spraying it on my skin. At first, I was completely horrified. A dark, deep spiciness hit my nose. To me, it smelled like very sharp mustard and smoke. After a few minutes, it somehow became bitter and waxy, reminding me of earwax :0
Very disappointed and somewhat disgusted, I tried to wash it off, but in vain. The longevity is therefore very good. And then I experienced something similar to Baiser de Florence; after about 2 hours, I found it more pleasant. Woody, spicy, slightly mustardy, and still smoky, but creamier/balsamic and softer than at the beginning.
Maybe I will test it again someday. Tastes can change, after all. But for now, I don't want to wait 2 hours for it to be pleasing to me.
