Herby Citrus

This was a blind buy for me. It worked out. However, my husband immediately disliked the scent, which is notable because he usually doesn't have strong opinions about fragrance and often says he has a dead sense of smell.

Citrus usually comes across as fresh to me, but I wouldn't describe this as that! It's more of an earthy, herby citrus. Dirty in a good way. Reminds me of a sweltering summer day.

It's unisex and spicy. The basil note had me flip flopping at first. I kept smelling pasta. But, I grew to enjoy it. I perceive the fragrance as masculine initially. As time goes on, it transitions to something more feminine, especially as the florals begin to peek through. I enjoy the transition, and it kept me interested enough to keep experimenting with the scent.

Citruses with herbal spiciness

I'm pleasantly surprised by this one. I placed it at the end of the discovery set because I've smelled many citruses that don't last and per the notes I wasn't expecting much, but I've got to admit I was wrong.

Blood orange, clementine and lemon are very strong and they're the highlight of this fragrance. Juicy, tangy, zesty, they're perfect for warm weather. The basil in this reminds me of Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic. While I found Guerlain's interpretation beautiful, it didn't last long. This one has way more lasting power. I thought the citruses would end up fading away rapidly, but they resisted the passing of time. I never smelled water lilies or pear blossom distinctively, but there is a pleasant soapy, clean scent that ends up appearing which I'm guessing comes from them. Ginger is the next note that stands out, giving the fragrance a lovely spicy tinge. The drydown is calm, soothing and follows the theme of this perfume. It's quite a lovely fragrance and could very well be a favorite for people who want a good citrusy scent with some spiciness to it.

Fresh, modern, romantic adventure

It reminds me of a couple exploring the west. Visiting the plains or a California orange grove. Think updated airstream trailer more than gritty backpacking. Fresh, modern, and hopeful. The sun is blazing, but it’s not oppressive.

The citrus lasts a surprisingly long time. Some earthiness and edge from the oakmoss, vetiver, basil, and ginger. Not very sweet. Unisex.

Something about this is romantic leaning to me. Like two people coming together to take on the world.

This freshness when sprayed, like a sea breeze. Only it’s also floral, citrusy, and with a hint of pepper. Ah, that’s ginger! You only notice it after an hour; before that, there was so much fuss. At first, I thought it was just a standard cologne. But the quality is good! It’s fun, fresh, feels elegant, slightly feminine, but also a sensation on a man. Yes, in the end, maybe a bit of amber and creamy warmth. Overall, it’s more like a green bouquet on mandarin cream. I don’t know what pear blossom smells like; probably nothing at all. What is this fizzy scent? It smells so delicious and tingles nicely. I confess I like that kind of thing. A summer fragrance for the whole day and evening. Don’t you want that? O. k., €90 for 50 ML. For Citrus Fans!

Citrus scents are generally not my thing, but I wanted to test this one anyway.
Well, at first it starts with 4711 vibes. As it develops, it strongly reminds me of "Acqua Colonia Blood Orange & Basil (Eau de Cologne) | 4711" or has a bit of a resemblance to (but only a bit, because the Guerlain is sweeter, in my opinion) Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic. It definitely goes in that direction, let's put it that way.
Towards the end, a spicier vetiver note remains. Since I'm not really into citrus fruits, this scent is personally not for me. The only fragrance I like in that direction is "Acqua Colonia Blood Orange & Basil (Eau de Cologne) | 4711" (but more for someone else than for myself).

However, fans of citrus fruits should definitely enjoy this one.
So give it a try!

The scents from the brand are all quite expensive in terms of P/L. The price per ml is usually around €2.20. Whether this is due to it being “cruelty free” and “vegan” (quote according to the packaging), I don't know. Maybe it's because of that; for me, it’s not really “niche”. So, anyone who likes 4711 and generally enjoys citrus fruits might find exactly what they're looking for in this scent.
