Coconut haters, rejoyce!

I feel like 'summer scent' and 'coconut' go together like white on rice and while some people are all for it, I am not one of them. The note nauseates me and gives me a headache so seeing coconut in most of the ads or articles for Miami Nectar I immediately wrote it off as something just not for me.

Oh how wrong I was.

The coconut water in this keeps it nice, light, and refreshing. Pink pineapple a touch of sweetness while the gardenia keeps in nice and creamy. Honestly this is like the perfect pina colata on skin. That first spray taking you to your favorite beach with a glass in one hand, sun glasses in the other, and your gaze fixed upon that beautiful beach sunset. ️

I've seen people say this scent doesn't last long but I got a solid 8 hours on skin. It wasn't just me that could smell it, but my husband as well. It projected at about arms length, so while you won't be announcing your presence anyone near you will be delighted to catch a whiff of you.

For me this is the tropical scent for the person who has a hard time finding tropical scents. My only complaint is that I wish it had mango. I feel like some juicy mango would have made this a perfect 10 out of 10 for me.

It’s giving night out in a beach town

To me this fragrance evokes a night out in a busy beach town. You hop from club to club with the ocean across the street. You’ve spilled a bit of your fruity frozen cocktail on your club dress, and you’re just a little sweaty from squeezing into a cab with your friends to get into town. You step outside the club and get hit with the smell of the beach, mingling with the aforementioned spilled cocktails and a touch of woody sweat.

This isn’t something I have experienced in about 20 years but this perfume takes me back to being young and running wild at night on vacation.

Great summer scent

This is really beautiful and fruity at first, with a coconut water aquatic aspect. I like that it doesn't smell like sunscreen (like Vacation, Beach Walk, TF Soleil, etc) and the florals are a soft supporting player. For a sweet pineapple I'm more drawn to Cloud Pink by Ariana Grande, and for strictly beachy I'm more drawn to Vacation. I'm just not sure that I need this in my collection. I might try layering it with a couple others to see what brings out the magic.

ETA: the drydown is really sophisticated. The frangipani is the most realistic I’ve ever smelled - exactly like a yellow lei bought from a roadside stand in Hawaii. The pineapple fades to vanilla, the moss takes over from the coconut water… it’s like it morphs into a different perfume (in a good way!). Longevity was 6hrs on me, from arm-distance projection down to intimate. I’m glad I sprung for the full bottle.

Light pina colada with a sweet and salty base

My second Sephora Spring Sale purchase. I don't even know how I passed over it (when I'm the one who entered it into the Parfumo database), but here I am!

Not quite unlike Guava Granita, it starts with an absolutely beautiful fruity pineapple note. Light, but juicy, tart but refreshing, it's a very realistic sweet pineapple. Coconut water is also present, but it doesn't give off sunscreen vibes. Instead, it conjures image of a tall drink of pina colada by the poolside. Florals do start to appear after awhile. Frangipani is the strongest, although I'm also getting a lovely powderiness from the jasmine. Perfume starts to want towards the drydown after about an hour and it becomes a bit more sophisticated too. i'm getting sweet vanilla, but also a salty driftwood note with a subtle earthy undertone.

Lovely fragrance, but like all tropical fragrances i've smelled up until now, fruity notes are too evanescent and don't stay as long as they should. I'm also not a fan of the salty, sweet scent I get as it dries down. I will be keeping my travel size, but I don't think I'll be going for a full bottle. Still a very nice fragrance for warm weather to come!

Generic, pleasant body splash.

I have a problem with many Ellis Brooklyn "perfumes" resembling body mists or sprays in terms of projection and longevity. This one becomes a skin scent in seconds and lasts less than 90 minutes on me. Not great value for $116/50 ml. The smell of this is not bad, but the pineapple lacks any distinct photorealistic "sour" or "tart" accords of real pineapple flesh, and the overall smell is very generic. I can detect a hint of coconut water but it's not as strong as I would have liked. I'll finish my 10 ml travel size, but I will never buy any full bottles of this brand.
