The almost perfect rose
Second day without moral qualms, using the precious time between box packing for a mood-boosting perfume test. After all, we are well on schedule and towards the end it always gets stressful anyway, no matter how well you have previously prepared the move.
Rrose grab the little fingers and I am brand-technically totally unencumbered, as far as Ellis Brooklyn is concerned. Dufttechnisch I suspect but aufrund of the double R at the beginning, a particularly cheeky, self-confident rose, the one full pot on the 12 haut and rolls the R playful-aggressive.
The prelude pleases: a fresh, clear, minimally sweet, slightly fruity rose lays on my skin, equally confident, as expected, not at all too loud and yet cuddly, with a small touch of fabric softener, which comes across here, however, more than pleasant and not too clean or even stinging.
In the meantime, I read up a bit: Lemon is included, I expected so, because of the fruitiness. Blackcurrants blend in well, appearing neither catty nor dominant here. Pear provides the necessary creaminess and a touch of sweetness. Lotus and peony provide floral support here for my favorite rose, the centifolia or Grasse rose. Musk provides a dose of cleanliness. Of cashmere wood and vanilla orchid I can not yet recognize anything, maybe later.
While I so sniff and enjoy, I let my search for the perfect rose fragrance pass in review. It all started with a small sample of Kiehl's, which I could not get out of my head for years and which I have sorted as the forever unattained, perfect rose. There are a few don'ts to keep in mind with rose scents: they shouldn't be too sweet, nor too fresh, so that you think directly of cleaning products. Woods often make them too straw-floral, bergamot creates dill aromas in combination with rose in my nose. All this I do not want to smell, but only a natural, front slightly citrus-fruity, hintenraus a discreet earthy-sweet rose smell.
Moving on to the Ellis brand, this was founded three years ago in Brooklyn by New York Times columnist and perfume lover Bee Shapiro and has made it its mission to create environmentally friendly, fresh and modern fragrances. So far, so sustainable.
Back to the fragrance: after some time, the rose weakens. The fresh and woody notes come through, forming a worthy conclusion to this rrrrrose performance. And even the next morning comes to me still a small, pleasant hint of the rose scent from the sleeve of the sweater
My perfect rose it is not quite, for this I lack the depth in the base, but rose is quite a fresh and successful addition to my previous rose parade.
