Fruity yogurt with a hint of florals beneath
I've got to say, I was not expecting the scent of a fruity yogurt with a hint of florals when I sprayed it on. Is it unusual? Yes, but it's not a scent I dislike. It's rather soft, but there's a lovely sweetness to it. When it settles down, I can follow the notes listed on here, even though the yogurt accord is what this perfume reminds me of from the beginning to the end.
The top notes are fruity and juicy. Bergamot adds a twang of freshness, figs and pears add a sweet fruitiness. There's no powdery notes here, just a lovely fruit basket. During the middle notes, there's an assortment of indescribable florals. They're nice, but I question these choices. They add a pleasant floral touch, but I can't help but wonder if they really fit with the theme and vibe of this perfume. The drydown is really strong and I'm thinking it's from those notes that the scent of yogurt comes to my mind. Coconut adds a pleasant creamy vibe with a touch of tropical feeling. Vanilla orchid is floral, yes, but also creamy and sweet. The flower fits the theme of this perfume way more than those in the middles notes. Vanilla orchid is always a nice note to have in a drydown. Amber and musk combine to temper the sweetness so it never gets too much.
In the end, I am pleasantly surprised by this scent, even though I question the floral choices in the middle notes. I wonder if using other florals like ylang-ylang or tiare might have better benefitted this fragrance. I would see myself wearing it during warmer weather. It's soft and pleasant enough to be used for daily moments. It's also one of the strongest Ellis Brooklyn perfume on my skin.
