There are better Chypres
When ordering Eau de Fröhliche No. 2 (yes, I bought it, even though it doesn't last long on me, but I can reapply and this scent has something, anise and mint, mhh), I also directly ordered two Chypre samples from Esteban. Unfortunately, I still can't reliably identify a Chypre, but I know I like them, as I have a few in my collection.
This morning, I indulged in Classic Chypre. The first impression is not overwhelming; the scent comes across as somewhat intrusive, citrusy, and spicy. There's no Aha effect, I find the fragrance rather sobering, and something is prickling in my nose, but I can't pinpoint what it is. After a while, it becomes sweeter and floral; now I think it might be jasmine that I don't like here and which causes headaches with a stronger dosage. The slight prickling subsides, and now it becomes spicy-sweet, almost a bit oriental.
The longevity is good; after four hours, the scent is weaker but still noticeable, and I would rate the sillage as average. I only know the bottle from the photo, well, it reminds me of a modern gravestone. I can't assign the scent to a specific season, and due to its spicy sweetness, I find it unsuitable for the opposite sex. Chypre Classic is not a bad fragrance, but it leaves me cold; somehow, it seems disguised to me.
