Nero Incenso Farmacia SS. Annunziata 2014 Eau de Parfum

I am a fan of buying fragrances while on vacation. With every spray, a brief memory comes to mind.
On my last trip to Italy, I chose Nero Incenso. And I still enjoy wearing it very much.

I perceive very little of the orange and bergamot... from the very beginning, it’s incense! As it develops, additional smoky notes emerge. For me personally, however, incense always remains in the foreground.
I really like the scent a lot.

Hello and good evening everyone. Tonight, I will describe a fragrance from the brand Farmacia SS. Annunziata. It's about the scent "Nero Incenso." So, with Nero, I can't help but think of Emperor Nero, who, according to rumors, set the city of Rome on fire and then supposedly sang about the fall of Troy from a tower, which is meant to underline his alleged madness (still, you all naturally think I'm the crazier one… so typical, tss…!). Sure, these are all rumors, but since this all happened so long ago, truths and rumors are likely mixed together a bit, yet rumors are indeed very persistent and can last for centuries, if not millennia.

Here on Parfumo, there are certainly rumors that one should not believe. For example, it is said here that a fragrance smells better if you shake the bottle vigorously before spraying!! :D
No, that was a joke, please don't do that. Not because it would harm the fragrance, but rather because you, as I know you, would probably be total clumsy and the bottle would fly out of your hands while shaking it :DD

But let's get to the fragrance before someone gets the idea to prove to me that they are not clumsy!

At first, I smell strong resinous incense, then generally smoky notes (a coincidence that the fragrance is called Nero?? :D) as well as sweet scents that are likely attributed to the resins. Quickly, woody scents also come into play. I can hardly perceive the listed top notes, as I smell neither oranges nor bergamots. If I concentrate and try to detect something citrusy among all the powdery-resinous scents, with a bit of imagination, one could actually smell something citrusy, but it could also just be a figment of the imagination.
The fragrance also has a "burning" undertone, although smoldering is the better expression, as it smells more like embers, which is "caused" by the smoky notes. I find that quite interesting, but some might perceive it as if the smell of smoke/fire has settled on their clothes, which isn't always great.
Much later, the fragrance remains smoky and resinous, but now also noticeably softer and warmer, which is due to the already gentle resins (like benzoin), but also because the initially somewhat sharper fragrance notes lose a bit of intensity. However, the fragrance hardly changes olfactorily and smells powdery-sweet throughout the base.

The sillage is above average, although I had imagined the fragrance to be a bit more intense due to the fiery-smoky notes. But it's enough to smell the fragrance well without having to get too close. The longevity is okay, the fragrance lasts about six hours. Although it can still be smelled afterward, it is only very close to the skin.

The black bottle is rectangular and bulges slightly upwards at the top. The front is printed with a complicated logo, around which the fragrance brand and founding date and place are circularly arranged. Below, you can see the fragrance name. The cap is shiny black and cylindrical. Everything is quite okay, but not a standout in terms of design.

So, that was Nero Incenso. Since the fragrance came across as smoky and smoldering, I think that with Nero, they were indeed thinking of Emperor Nero rather than, for example, neroli or something :D
The fragrance may primarily smell of resinous incense with sweet-powdery notes, but it also has this special undertone that smells of embers or smoldering and smoke. I don't find that bad in principle, but I think there are some nicer smoke-and-fire fragrances, like By the Fireplace from the Replica fragrance line (which, of course, is a matter of taste).

The fragrance is quite autumnal and could be used cautiously as an unusual scent, for example, in leisure time; I would use it less at work, as otherwise everyone might think that you had just stoked charcoal and the smoke had settled on your hair and clothes :D

Yes, as I said, the fragrance is special, but definitely worth a test, especially for those who want to smell something different. I have to slightly disagree with some of the statement predecessors here, as I couldn't smell any chlorine in this fragrance, but as always, one thing applies: perceptions can always be different, so don't complain right away if the fragrance smells like chlorine to you :D
