This fragrance is purely ironic, change my mind.
Pincett is by far the least demanding, the brightest and „nicest” Filippo Sorcinelli’s composition. There’s nothing to dislike about it: it’s citrusy, coconut-y, a bit floral, smells natural and almost edible, but in a fresh way. It’s well executed, nicely blended and pretty versatile. It opens up with a blast of citruses that are more sweet than sour, you get some delicate, white florals and there’s this coconut-y base. That’s it. Doesn’t sound like anything Sorcinelli would create, right? Now, here’s something I find interesting.
The only way to get this fragrance, as it is limited to 500 bottles, was to purchase a bottle from one of his most demanding, monumental and difficult lines. I can’t help but think it was completely intentional. Pincett is not monumental, nor demanding. It’s just nice. And that’s precisely why I think Sorcinelli made it deliberately - as an ironic counterbalance to his most difficult works. You open the package containing something as monumental as one of UNUM fragrances, and there’s a neon bum-bag right next to all-black box with a mother-of-all-incenses: Lavs. Inside of that bum-bag there are some stickers, a pin, a four-colour pen, and the bottle of Pincett. It is as out of place, as the pope wearing neon orange Converse All Stars and a t-shirt with some euro-disco band’s logo underneath his robes: it’s a literal clash between sacrum and profanum. It has to be intentional and ironic, change my mind.
If you can put your hands on Pincett, do it. It’s interesting - mainly because it’s great to see how Sorcinelli handled an easy-to-reach, pleasant and ironic fragrance. In my opinion he did really well and despite the fact that I’m usually not interested in this DNA, ironically, this is exactly why this bottle will stay in my collection.
