Whosoever can bring light to a hidden thing

I had the most interesting experience with Luxe Calme Volupte. I was reading about the idea of invoking the muse when I first sprayed some of the perfume on my skin, and I realized, enrapt by the verdant, vegetal tendriling greenery and the balsamic woodsy galbanum, that my mind had started to wander as I began to both daydream and open browser windows just to get a better sense of the fragrance’s inspiration. I was reading the Baudelaire poem referenced in the brand’s copy when I became aware of the bitter bite of the citrus pith and peel and sour zinger of the tropical fruit pulp, and that’s when I glanced down at the book I was meant to be reading, and realized that the very next sentence in this book, utterly unrelated to the perfumes I was sampling, mentioned Charles Baudelaire! Maybe I am unduly influenced but I’m convinced this is the scent of deep, creative wellsprings; fertile, magical places, teeming with connections and synchronicities, and invocations to “Whosoever can bring light to a hidden thing.”

Childhood nostalgia

This is the latest Francesca Bianchi release. She declared in one interview that it was the fragrance which she was the most anxious about because she became more and more popular over the last couple of years and the eyes were on her.

Will she be able to live up to the expectations? Will this fragrance be as good as her more popular creations Sex and The sea or The Dark Side? I

I am telling you guys she nailed this one! Such and amazing calming and nostalgic fragrance. When you first spray it on you get a blast of the bitter orange and green-ness from the galbanum. Right away you get the tropical fruits with a beautiful pineapple smell.
The best way to describe it would be if you ever had the pineapple Sugus candy, a tropical sweetness, not necessarily realistic but amazing. This is gone within 5 minutes, then the resins start to creep in and together with the iris it gives almost a medicinal vibe with small traces of vetiver. Slightly creamy because of the sandalwood. A borderline gourmand fragrance with a relaxing and nostalgic aroma.

Projection average and longevity above average, 12+ hours. Cannot wait to wear this in the spring.

Take a minute and relax

First I get pineapple. It is smooth and sweet but not sickly sweet and I think of cold pressed pineapple juice (the good stuff, that is smooth, naturally sweet and same color as real pineapple flesh). This is brief and it changes green. It is dry green not juicy leafy green, not forest green but dry, herbatious and bitter zesty. I am seeing yellow and light green and it feels like I am in hot sun, somewhere where the sun dried everything. In the drydown flowers poke through the green herbal bitterness, that does not leave and stays in the background on my skin. I think Francesca nailed the name and colour scheme here. Very calming and relaxing scent.
Note to bottle spray nozzle : excellent - you can control how much you spray which for me means less on more places.

Meh, sorry!

I don't want to offend anyone. I've tried it on thrice, always trying to figure out how it was possible that it reminded me of cat urine. I can not stand it. A blind buy is absolutely not recommended with Francesca Bianchi's perfumes. With my eyes closed, looking at the olfactory pyramid, I would have said that this could be a perfume of my interest. However, even if I don't like it, I recognize the brand's usual signature, a bit buttery and vintage, revisited in a modern way.

Gummy package with makeup flowers

This is yet another try on this House (I tried 8 of them). I was determined to find at least one or two fragrances from this house that I could give an 8. That is still not the case.

The fragrance is nauseating with this gummy scent with makeup. It's a Gummy Makeup praline. Very disappointing. Not wearable at all on any imaginable occasion.
