One of four releases by Amsterdam based Italian perfumer Francesca Bianchi. After trying and loving Under My Skin, I was keen to try another creation. Here is my take, please let me know if you have tried this

Smells like honeymoon

At first it's pina coladas, sunblock, and bracing seawater. Soon the pineapple and coconut and salt take a back seat but they stay along for the ride. Myrrh, rose, and vanilla are revealed, with a very subtle body note like a whiff of your lover's hair in the Caribbean sun. The rest of the world falls away, and nothing else exists but you and him in the warm blue water in this moment. This is such a gorgeous romantic blend. The salty ambergris keeps the fruitiness in check and the drydown is just so warm and dreamy. Wearing this scent for an hour had me searching flights for two to St. Thomas.

An artist’s take on sweaty sex at the beach

Ok, so this one.
If I went by the notes and the reviews, I would have given this a hard pass without even a cursory sniff. There’s nothing about suntan lotion, the beach, sweat, pineapple, coconut or ambergris that I want anything to do with. And even though I know Francesca Bianchi is a magician, this and it’s sister Neroli were still the last of the line that I tried.
And now, having worn it multiple times and with a bottle on the way, I can say that while the notes and other reviewers are entirely accurate, that this fragrance is something entirely different than the sum of it’s parts. It’s entirely different than anything I’ve smelled before. The best way to experience this fragrance may be to forget all that’s been written and said and smell it blind.
If I were to do that and just describe what I’m smelling, I’d say it’s sweetish and creamy, a bit lactonic but with some salt and humanity. It reminds me a tiny bit of Selperniku by January Scent Project in the fruity sweet, milky umami thing they both have going on.
Wearing this makes me think that Francesca Bianchi’s inspiration for some of her frags is all the different smells of the human body in different circumstances. (The Black Knight - after riding a horse in armor all day, Under My Skin- female sex) Here the inspiration probably is sweaty sex at the beach. But it’s the inspiration, not what the fragrance smells like. Because the fragrance smells beautiful while the reality, probably not so much. Which is why it’s art.
Like all my favorite Bianchi’s (which is getting to be rather a lot), this one is beautiful but also deeply alive, warm and human. It’s not one that I’ll probably wear a lot because it’s so strange and not me. Instead I’ll keep it for days when I want something to knock me a little off kilter, jolt me out of a rut and remind me that the world is full of all kinds of beauty and it can be found in even the most unpromising circumstances.

Piñacoladas on warm skin after a long day at the beach

Francesca Bianchi and 'The art of Sensuality' made Tropical.

Sex and the Sea is Piñacoladas on warm skin after a long day at the beach.
Tipsy laughs at sunset.
Long conversations with ‘hot sand on toes, cold sand in sleeping bags’.
A cheeky smile over the shoulder.
A soft touch of a loving hand on slightly burnt and salty skin.

It's such a mesmerising fragrance to me.

I always say this is a piñacolada made carnal and sensual.

How does that work?
Well, ask Francesca herself because the magic she does with the base of her fragrances is something I can’t quite explain.

And these REALLY need skin to show off.

This opens up with a very juicy yet creamy pineapple and coconut accord.

Then develops into a very buttery, slightly salty (not aquatic) and musky (skinlike) drydown.

The Francesca Bianchi DNA of orris butter, sandalwood along with the musky cocktail really make this a sensual piece.

A very warm day at the beach sipping some cocktails with a happy ending?

That’s what I get from this one and I love it.

This smells like a wet towel sitting under you to protect the chair of a beach bar from getting wet from yout swimming pants. You have been on a beach all day, and now , sunkissed, hot and salty you took a rest in a shaddow of a bar and ordered pineapple coconut fragrance. Sippin it, you are looking to a sunset, but waves still tirelessly hitting the rocks in front of you
