Aptly-named aquatic floral with spicy touches
One of the two initial releases from the new Pearlescent Parfums from Daniel Gallagher (of Gallagher Fragrances) is the appropriately-named Aquarose, a bright, fresh, aquatic rose fragrance. It mainly smells of a fresh rose, not screechy, accented by some spices and blended with mixed salt/freshwater concept. Even with notes of sea spray, driftwood, and ambergris listed, it does not feel distinctly marine to me, still hinting at freshwater, though the ambergris does add something faintly animalic to the mix. The blend also leans a bit musky, all while not veering toward the sweet at all, really.

Overall, I find Aquarose a very pleasing, versatile release, not stereotypically all that femine- or old- or young-leaning, but really a well blended concept that is fresh and bright but with some intrigue depth.

Aquarose (along with the other release, Baklava) is extrait concentration and is priced at $175 for 60ml, sold via the house website, which also sells a pair of 2ml samples.

A Huge Surprise!!!
Unfortunately, not a positive surprise : (
I love discovering new fragrances!
So I couldn't resist and ordered samples of this unknown label with my last Gallagher order.
I know and like the scent notes of Aquarose in many fragrances. The only ones I haven't encountered in perfumes are sea foam and ambrette.
I was very sure that I would like this fragrance. It would start beautifully fruity with bergamot and orange, then floral and fresh with rose, jasmine, and the sea foam. Maybe also slightly salty. And warm, woody with a powdery musk fading away…
That's roughly how I imagined this fragrance, and I could have liked it very much!
SOOO, let's get to reality!
Right after spraying, I perceive the authentic smell of a fresh bunch of soup greens. Mhm delicious? Nope!! I don't want to smell like vegetables!
After about 20 minutes, the fragrance fortunately transforms. Now I smell fresh parsley and jasmine. Do I like this better? Nope, not really. With a lot of effort, I also catch a slightly salty and fresh hint. That must be the sea foam.
So I "scent" like this for about 2-3 hours.
Then the fragrance changes again, and I smell carrots that I've just pulled from rain-soaked earth. After 8 hours, the fragrance has fortunately become very quiet, and after 10 hours, it has completely disappeared.
I really don't want to speak badly of the fragrance!!
I want to achieve with my review that you please test this fragrance first and not just order it blindly!

The bottle looks very nice, and the scent notes read very well, which can easily tempt one to order without testing.

I believe that once again my skin chemistry does not work with this fragrance.
Unfortunately, I often have the problem that great fragrances smell completely different and just not nice on me. A summer fragrance from Salvatore Ferragamo smells like lovage on me…
I could name many more examples like this….

So please don't be upset if someone loves this fragrance; my review only reflects my personal experience with it.

And as already mentioned: Please do not buy blindly!!

Synthetic roses, surrounded by fresh + salty air. Artificial jasmine growing in wet soil. Not my rose garden…

Many roses bloom in the summer garden, all smelling similarly sweet and somewhat one-dimensional. Over time, a woody + synthetic note emerges.

First, a piercingly artificial chemical rose from the GDR plastic factory. Then a nice aquatic attempt, gone quickly. Not sorry about the water rose.
