Ambre Soie

This fragrance opens with an aromatic amber note sweetened by anise. It seems to be a lighter and more candied take on amber than Ambra by Etro. The patchouli and clove notes are only detectable very close to the skin - they appear to be the base of the accord. The scent gradually loses some of its freshness, but none of its light sweetness. As the fragrance progresses the anise note fades slightly and the base notes gets more prominent. The patchouli is well-blended and therefore not too dry or earthy. Contradicting the list of notes, this is a rather quiet scent that remains close to the skin.

Ambre Soie is one of the best unisex perfumes available on the market, in my opinion. Both women and men can wear this scent and feel completely comfortable.

Since I travel a lot for my job, I have, of course, been to Arab countries several times, where I often wandered through the bazaars for days, soaking in the scents once my work was done. I felt like the psychopath from the movie "Perfume" ^^

I got Ambre Soie before my trip to Oman. I have a bit of a quirk about this. Because whenever I fly somewhere, I buy a new scent or bring one back with me. Ambre Soie immediately caught my attention. After I sprayed the fragrance and returned hours later to take it with me, I was very relieved to possess such a delicate and pleasant scent. I was visibly happy to have found something that I could also associate with the country of Oman.

The scent is very bright and not heavy at all like its sister Ambre Orient. The latter is considerably cooler. Soie is, for me, a very peaceful and calm fragrance. Like the people of Oman. Truly relaxed, not intrusive, and reserved.

I find the pyramid of the perfume very beautiful. Cinnamon is also included, and that is my absolute favorite scent. I believe I would do anything for cinnamon ;o)
The interplay of cinnamon, cedar, and white pepper is very playful, yet it does not come across as intense at all. It’s like a light veil that rests upon you and follows you for days. I also smell clove and patchouli, but they play a supporting role on my skin. I only perceive amber in the dry down. All in all, a very beautiful fragrance that flatters everyone and conveys friendliness and warmth to those around.

With the scent on me, strolling through the narrow streets of the capital of Oman, towards the sun... I feel like a young, nice sultan whose heart is full of kindness. The few ladies who passed by looked at me with their dark eyes. Briefly, kindly but with a nod of acknowledgment. Perhaps they wanted to say something to me... hmm

I love it when scents remind me of something and can hold those memories. A very good perfume. Simply top!

Favorite Piece of Velvet and Silk

Years ago, my hunter's eyes spotted the Armani-prive fragrances in a magazine and sent my pulse racing... But for a long time, I lived quite Spartan when it came to my purchasing habits... But now it had to happen. Should I, should I not? Pushed aside! What was pushed - was driven! Let no one say that one doesn't get spring feelings. So shortly after my perfume initiation, I became fragrance-crazy and ordered blindly (but already infected by rave reviews from Hermi and Duftstick) - so not completely blindly. And oh, just like back then with Arabie and Ambre Sultan and A la Nuit and Aziyade, now also Ambre Soie - with the letter A, these orders seem to be crowned with feelings of happiness. Aaahhh....
Ambre Soie has many of the things I love in fragrances: amber, clove, pepper, wood, and ginger (the latter I liked in "Nu" by YSL and "Insomny" by Michel Klein, no longer available). Ambre Soie is a very fitting name: both silky and ambered. And silk has the quality of being delicate and durable at the same time, matte and noble.
It is a very successful blend of temperamental notes and simultaneously "present" restraint. A paradox, but only seemingly: Ambre Soie is both substantial and noble.
It is a modern oriental with straightforwardness. It doesn't shimmer like the cornucopia "Bal a Versaille" in its old-fashioned composition, but it is extremely successful. The limitation to fewer ingredients is not a drawback; on the contrary, it is a clear course towards a luxury oriental.
Compared to the spice-packed and resinous Arabie, Ambre Soie appears more fluid, but not diluted(!), overall lighter and probably more wearable for many. Of course, AS is not just a lighter version of Arabie. I find the interplay between the biting sour-spiciness of ginger and the soothing power of good-natured patchouli successful here. Through amber and clove, AS has a special character that is both attractive and distancing at the same time.
This fragrance is worth its money; it was my most expensive purchase so far, but for 100ml, it is acceptable compared to some candy-colored sweeteners in the perfume offerings.
AS is wearable by both men and women and is actually suitable for year-round use.
The bottle is adequate to its content in its purism. Black, strict, mysterious. The amber as a closure is also fitting, even though I prefer it unpolished in real life.
Years ago, I bought a fir green silk skirt and a top made of matte silk with a refined cut from Privatsachen in Denmark. I still wear both today. I am sure it will be the same with this fragrance. Favorite piece!

Subdued Lust

A dark red, silky shimmering sphere that this scent rolls through my brain.
In the first rush, I can’t decipher any components, there is only smooth, heavy compactness. None of the previous speakers say it outright, so I must: Yes, the scent is beautiful - and lustful like a whole seminary.
There’s something happening in the silk, but it’s not cloying, not sleazy, no flat pick-up line, but a clearly perceptible invitation to fiddle with zippers and buttons.
The scent is pleasing and well-received, and Eros has donned his evening attire here - he remains true to his nature, of course. This amber (Amber!) combined with patchouli (Patchouli!) gives a fruity-meaty sweetness, polished just slightly with vanilla, and the spiciness provides the energy boost that keeps it afloat, preventing it from collapsing under its own weight.
A scent that triggers fantasies.
Don’t come too close with your "Come here, you!"
"I know you, man. Who are you?"
"Are you coming to my place for breakfast tomorrow morning?"
That he holds back slightly and takes a step back is his only chance. Otherwise, it would all be too obvious: That a sphere of sweet flesh is rolling around. That here "Privé" can also be taken literally. And wants to be.

I know it may sound strange, as they are two very different scents, but in terms of "mood," an elegant and latent eroticism, it reminds me of "Envy for Men" by Gucci - but only in memory. The direct comparison diminishes the similarity a bit.

What is this? Sherry? Port wine? I’m already drunk, but I like you so much. I’ve known you for a while, but today you’re somehow so - different.
