Sì Passione Giorgio Armani 2018 Eau de Parfum

If you're looking for something passionate, deep and sexy like the naming and bottle design suggest, Sì Passione will likely be a disappointment. But if you adjust your expectations and view it as a fruity-floral allrounder for casual use, it's actually quite good. At least to my nose. It's an easy reach, not a seductive, opulent perfume for special occasions.

Sì Passione starts out with sparkly blackcurrant and sweet pear. Both are juicy and fresh, but the currants turn deeper and syrupy after a while. Together with the rose and vanilla it recalls the DNA of the original Sì, but lighter and without the sharp patchouli. The opening made me think this would be a clean, shampoo-ish fragrance with lots of pear. I was surprised when it got warmer and more feminine after a short wait. A modern floriental bouquet with fruity accents. Now I wouldn't call it passionate, but definitely flirty. There is also something in this that gives me early 2000s Escada summer edition vibes, though I can't really explain what it is, as this is heavier than those ever were.

This exceeded my expectations. I anticipated it to be generic and boring, and yes, it's not the most innovative scent ever, but I find it really enjoyable.

I received a sample of this with my order. The marketing made it look incredibly enticing, all red and vanilla and pear. I thought to myself - this looks right up my alley! Oh how disappointing. The scent is so mild, almost nothing there. A shampoo you pick up for a few euro and only smell it in the shower as you lather it.

Now if that is something you're looking for, this might be for you! It's inoffensive, soft, shampoo-ey. In my opinion unisex.

"Sì Passione" retains the strength of the original while imparting a vibrant, heart-pounding positivity.

The fragrance opens with a surprisingly juicy and vibrant top note, combining the freshness of grapefruit with notes of cassis and pear. Rather than the depth of a modern chypre, a fruity lightness is at the forefront. The grapefruit and rose accords in particular evoke a nostalgic yet sophisticated "cosmetic powderiness," gently adding a touch of feminine happiness.

The whole fragrance is enveloping with a bright, powdery texture. While the original evokes a mature depth, Passione evokes a radiant femininity. It's a light and approachable floral-fruity fragrance for the modern woman.

I enjoyed my little decant of this that a friend gifted to me. It was a fruity shampoo smell, quite pretty, refreshing, and mild compared to the sultry marketing. I probably wouldn’t spend top dollar on this, but if I ever come across it on a good sale or a TJ Maxx find I’ll definitely grab it! However if you’re looking for something with distinctive notes or long lasting, I’d look elsewhere.

The descriptions of this smelling like shampoo are spot on. This smells like you’ve spent your extended lunch break having your hair washed with a rich, conditioning shampoo that is reminiscent of pears and summer fruits. You then had your hair blow dried, leaving it smelling warm and a little spicy from the pink pepper. Your hair is finished with a treatment oil with a slight floral and vanilla fragrance and a few spritz of powdery hair spray.

This is definitely a sweet floral perfume, but the background is a real clean and soapy scent that is more prevalent on the dry down. I personally love the soapiness and find it very comforting. Usually I’m not a fan of florals, particularly Jasmine, but it’s a beautiful blend of crisp fruits, soft florals and soapy, powdery goodness. I wear this when I want a confidence boost, and find it’s a great work scent. A grown up, quietly bold scent that is worn by your co-worker who has the best hair and always looks put together.
