Sultry Sweet Sticky Bubble Gum
The Elixir version of Ange ou Démon Le Secret immediately brought to mind bubblegum, but not the childish pleasure of a yummy fresh piece of gum still in the wrapper. Rather, this conjures up a piece of gum that is quickly warming up in the mouth as the juicy artificial flavors are being rapidly released onto the palate along with a heavy dose of magical high fructose corn syrup. The type of bubblegum is a particular brand of individually wrapped candy I see in the US, rarely, except for around particularly around Halloween; has a distinctive Sasparilla (originally made from a blend Smilax regelii plant extract, birch oils and sassafras)- benzoin complex sort of like root beer flavoring, but here it is just a hint compared to the true rootbeer fragrances, such as Aqua Di Parma's "Mandorlo". That being said, this fragrance is not for those who shy away from sweet fragrances, like myself. This is also not an office appropriate fragrance for anyone, because it is totally distracting. This is one of those "Head Turner" fragrances for a night out on the town dancing with friends and anytime it's appropriate to yell "Keep Those Appletinis Coming!". It's the kind of bubblegum scent that smells better mixed with secondhand smoke, sweaty skin and desire. It is sweet sultry seduction in a bottle. As it dries down I get a clear image of Olivia Newton John Circa 1979 in 'Xanadu', sporting mini dolphin shirts and roller skates and all. Likewise, I imagine that this is what Blondie wished she smelled like while singing 'Heart of Glass' with her insanely metallic red glossy lip, feathered hair and the spandex clad 'Solid Gold Dancers' in the background, back in the 80s. If these references don't resonate, I apologize, I'm outdated, but this fragrance is definitely not...it's a bold, sweet, strong and naughty modern interpretation of a youthful bubblegum fantasy.

A Fresher Alien EDP
When I first tested on the paper, it was more like citrus and woody floral. I liked it but was not impressed. Then I accidently got a sample, and I must say it's much better on skin because the vanilla base was missing on the paper.

I can pick out jasmin, tea, lemon, vanilla and patchouli notes. I didn't have grape/bubblegum like some previous reviews. The first hour reminds me of Alien EDP mainly because of rather intensive jasmin, but they smell absolutely different. After 3 or 4 hours it makes me think of Kenzo Amour maybe due to woody-vanilla base. Overall it's a powdery-sweet scent balanced with citrus and woody notes. It's not too sweet and kind of fresh. The drydown vanilla blended with tea and other woody notes is very comforting. It's sensual and still fresh. The sillage is close to skin and the longevity is about 7 or 8h.

Intense Jasmine Tea Aroma
I forgot that this fragrance was a flanker of Ange ou Demon Le Secret. As a result, I spent the first few hours wondering why Ange ou Demon Le Secret Elixir wasn't a stronger, more vanillary version of Ange ou Demon. I have now come to the realisation that I'm an idiot.

Ange ou Demon Le Secret Elixir is a dark, yet surprisingly fresh tea scent. I don't find it all that sensual, however it does have a rather mysterious feel. It's a good choice for a warm night spent outdoors.

To my nose, this isn't an overly complex scent. I smell watery tea, dewy jasmine, a hint of lemon, musty patchouli and white musk. Unfortunately I could not detect the sweetness that some have noted in their reviews. It was just a fresh, green jasmine-tea scent on my skin.

It's a much stronger scent when compared to the original Ange ou Demon Le Secret. The projection is pleasing without being too overpowering. The longevity is not bad either.

If you already own Ange ou Demon Le Secret, there isn't any reason to go out and buy Ange ou Demon Le Secret Elixir too. They are quite similar, the only difference being, this version has a richer patchouli accord in the base and stronger sillage.

Sugared Fruit Tea
The top note opens with the unmistakable scent of jasmine, the heavy sweetness of orange blossom, paired with a good splash of lemon. Although the tea note is not prominent, it is still recognizable throughout the entire fragrance journey. I also see the similarity to Le Secret EdP, while I recognize the sweetness more from the "regular" Ange ou Demon.

The association I have in the first hour with Le Secret Elixir EdP is a slightly over-sweetened fruit tea (rosehip?) with a slice of lemon added. A real base note does not establish itself for me. After that, the sugar content decreases proportionally to the scent intensity. For the fragrance to last 5-6 hours, I really have to spray it generously. This is not a problem with the 100 ml bottle (which, by the way, is quite hefty and relatively unwieldy); at first, the perfume also seems quite intense. However, this is labeled as an "Intense EdP," which I cannot confirm compared to the aforementioned fragrances. My surroundings also did not comment on the perfume when I wore it, so I conclude that it does not have a strong sillage.

Nevertheless, I like the scent, even now in summer temperatures. Then I add a few ice cubes to the tea glass and enjoy the uplifting, sensual side of Le Secret Elixir on a warm summer evening. But I also find pleasure in it on cooler days, as it feels like a comforting cup of tea when you come home completely soaked on a rainy day.
My only concern is that I might get tired of it relatively quickly.

Surrounded by angels, a little demon sits in the heart note and giggles....
I had to revise my statement. It read: "Fruity, floral, warm, way too sweet for me, yet it fascinates with its special, bitter charm. I’m even considering wearing it!"

Indeed, Ange ou Démon Le Secret Elixir has a truly special charm and - I have now succumbed to it. I am no longer just considering wearing it; no, I have almost used up my sample. However, I am still contemplating. I am now considering buying a bottle.

Surprisingly, I no longer notice the sweetness at all. I don’t reject sweet fragrances; I just don’t like it when the sweetness seems to cover up flaws in composition or ingredients, when sweetness becomes the main ingredient. This is definitely not the case with Ange ou Démon Le Secret Elixir.

In the top note, Ange ou Démon Le Secret Elixir begins with a citrusy freshness. The tea prevents the opening from being one-dimensional and adds a soft background of neroli and lemon. For me, the top note is pleasant and well-composed, but not particularly outstanding.

I really like patchouli and find it a great pleasure how patchouli here gently announces the base without becoming too dominant. Both musk and vanilla come across naturally and stay pleasantly in the background. But the base ultimately isn’t anything particularly new.

So why have I succumbed to Ange ou Démon Le Secret Elixir then?

It started with this "special charm" that emanates from the bitter-powdery heart note. Now, it’s not that I hadn’t smelled frangipani, jasmine, and orange blossom before. All three are even candidates that I sometimes don’t like at all and can even ruin a fragrance for me. So, the ingredient list for the heart note wouldn’t have particularly appealed to me just from reading. However, in Ange ou Démon Le Secret Elixir, these three flowers are perfectly coordinated: the orange blossom contributes the bitterness without becoming too harsh and demanding, the jasmine keeps most of its cloying stinkiness to itself and adds a floral warmth, while frangipani gives the heart note something exotic. All three together merge into a devilishly extraordinary, warm-bitter, and somewhat scratchy, novel powderiness that awakens me.

The heart note lasts for a good five, maybe six hours. And since it keeps drawing my attention throughout this entire period, constantly challenging me in some way, the comparatively boring base afterward is wonderfully relaxing, almost relieving. Now the constant, interesting, but also somewhat exhausting challenge of the heart note has come to an end, and I can find peace.

And thus, my change of heart regarding Ange ou Démon Le Secret Elixir is explained: The heart note is exceptionally special, but it is so curiously bitter and also somewhat demanding that it captivated me, yet I couldn’t really identify with it at first. It was too foreign to me. On the other hand, the top note and base were too normal for me at first, which now makes me particularly fond of this fragrance.

The fascination for the extraordinary led me to wear Ange ou Démon Le Secret Elixir from time to time, and gradually it became more familiar.

Will I ever really identify so much that I buy a bottle?
Probably at the latest when my sample is used up....I think I can hear the demon giggling again....

It smells of flowers & sea. Citrusy-floral-fresh. The sweetness is balanced by something bitter. Therefore surprisingly pleasant.

Angels and devils are using the same "secret" stuff, sitting happily at the powder counter and cuddling with neroli.

Angels and devils high-five. They agree. One roars "You need me" while the other whispers "I need you." Yes, convinced.

The name is so fitting: lovely and dangerously sensual and seductive - the fine line between good and evil...my secret! My night!

Angel and demon... yes, that fits... that's the scent... between floral-sweet and sensual-bitter. Could be a bit louder :)

Fruity, floral, warm - it's actually a bit too sweet for me, yet it fascinates with its unique, bitter little demon in the heart note.

For me, it's the most beautiful of the Le Secrets, because it has what I missed in the EDT and EDP. A rounded secret...
