Opens up beautifully…spicy from the cardamom, some vanilla, some woods. Stays like that for about an hour. You may buy a bottle based on that first hour, then get home and be pretty damn disappointed with whats left on your skin.
It begins to dry down to something that smells very feminine, synthetic, chemically, cloying and almost like scented body lotion. Very, very disappointing considering how beautiful the opening is.
I would skip this, and save your money, go with a different flanker in the line.
I agree with the light Iris in the opening, but I get a “chocolatey” feeling in it as well, and then it dries down into something very similar to Ferragamo Uomo in my opinion.
It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it’s also getting a lot of hate atm, and I don’t think it’s as bad as the haters are saying it is.
It is definitely different than its predecessors, and I think that THAT is why the disdain is being given.
I’d say the projection is a moderate 2ft bubble, with a lingering sillage trail that goes for an easy 6-8 hours.
Give it a peek before you buy it, but it’s not as terrible as many are saying it is.
How many different opinions of this Gentleman. My experience: neutral, versatile, sweet and rich, but absolutely dispensable. Cardamom stands out in the first phase, with a floral air, I don't know if it's sage or tuberose, but it reminds me of violet, which brings a lot of elegance, the background is woody, with a marked palo santo so fashion currently. All accompanied by a very controlled sweetness of vanilla. I've been trying it for a couple of days and I can't perceive vetiver around here. Unfortunately, I can't find any connection with the Gentleman line. It didn't drive me crazy, in Argentina it's a bit expensive, about $120 approximately. I highly recommend not buying blindly like I did.
I must say it doesn't really fit into the gentleman line, but its very pleasant and not deserving of the hate.
It's creamy sweet florals with sandalwood and an actually nice narcissus. Im not a fan of the narcissus in H24 Eau de Toilette but here it does wonders, not necessarily "gentlemanly" but its fitting for a nice sunny day out, my gf really likes it on me. Its younger brother Gentleman Society Eau de Parfum Extrême is much nicer with the added coffee.
The Gentleman Society was something very special for me, even after the first spray. For me, it was unique, special and a perfect everyday fragrance for the modern man of today.
The opening is something very special, the pleasant and refreshing note of sage immediately hits your nose. Simply wonderful! I get a fresh and at the same time sweet, balsamic, woody top note. This opening is simply wonderful and the star of the perfume.
It stays like this for about 1.5 to 2 hours. The projection is also really strong during this time.
After the opening, the fragrance settles a little and the projection also decreases significantly. From then on, the fragrance is more skin-deep and the second part of this wonderful fragrance begins.
The entire fragrance becomes woodier, smoother and brings out the wonderful Palo Santo (sandalwood) accords. Beautiful woods accompanied by a hint of smoky accents. A very subtle powderiness and a soothing vanilla sweetness blend wonderfully with each other and alternate again and again.
The interplay of the individual accords and this smoothness are something very special. Nevertheless, connoisseurs of the Gentleman range can still smell the DNA that all Givenchy Gentleman fragrances share.
The whole fragrance lasts about 7 hours on my skin. Even longer on textiles.
Gentleman Society is a wonderful everyday fragrance with an absolutely ingenious design. It goes everywhere and at all times, making it the perfect signature fragrance for men over 25. As it also exudes a certain masculinity due to the smoky and woody accords, I find it rather unsuitable for the very young among us!
For me, it's a direct hit and a modern masterpiece.
I can only recommend everyone to try the fragrance on their skin. Because I'm sure a lot of people will like the fragrance, even those who aren't so enthusiastic about it at first.
It's sure to score points with the opposite sex too, if the wearer scores...
For me, one of the best releases of 2023.
PS: I read here in the comments that this fragrance smells like many other fragrances... I would be very interested to know which fragrances are meant? Because to my nose it smells very unique and no other fragrance comes to mind right away.
