Bringing in the Summer.
What could be better than starting the morning with a relaxing shower, throwing on cozy jeans and your favorite sweater?
At the breakfast table, the scent of freshly brewed coffee fills the air, raindrops are splattering against the window from the storm... Stop!
Okay, the weather could really be better. It's been weeks of gray and wet - it's also affecting my mood.
Maybe that's why I couldn't resist my Guerlain Aqua Allegorias.
This one will do: Lemon fresca; tested it once and liked it immediately.
Today, I'm trying it for the second time, more thoroughly:
A fresh kick without solely showcasing lemon and bergamot.
Anise probably dampens it a bit, keeping the two notes in check until the green comes in. I can't identify what the notes are. I think it's not just the bitter green lime....
I find the scent becomes a bit creamy with a slight earthy-woody trace.
By no means musty or anything like that, no, it's pleasantly rounded, light, and close to the skin.

A great scent for spring and summer, fresh, bright, easy to wear, radiates good vibes and has a pleasant, well-groomed base.

Here I get what I expected from Limon Verde.
Unlike some other perfumes, I like the AA scents and own a few of them. Some of these "cheerful waters" are quite impressive. When they hit the market around 1998-1999, I bought one of the first miniature sets at the Frankfurt airport and was thrilled with the contents. Flora Nerolia, Ylang-Vanille, Herba Fresca, for example, immediately moved in with me in full size. Ylang-Vanille returned to my collection last year, as the old bottle had been empty for a long time.

However, like many other brands, Guerlain has succumbed to the "mainstream" and has released many - too many - additional AA scents over the years. Most of these fragrances can indeed be compared to much cheaper scents and threaten to slip into banality. This also happened with Limon Verde - the late successor to Lemon Fresca.

Lemon Fresca delivers everything that the name promises, albeit with a - please forgive me - miserable longevity and sillage. Quite contrary to the other older AA scents, which showed quite good longevity and more than decent sillage.

In the opening, Lemon Fresca is fresh-citrusy, without being "lemony." It then reveals a lot of green and a very light warm-woody note, like sandalwood, which according to the pyramid is not included.

Lemon Fresca is a scent that speaks to my Andalusian soul. Andalusians love to rub themselves all over with such fresh scents after a shower, and they smell fresh and clean all day long. These fragrances can be purchased in large 1 - 2 liter bottles at very reasonable prices.
But Lemon Fresca is simply too expensive to use intensively, as you have to reapply every 2 hours to refresh and perceive it again. The environment benefits less from it, as LF is very close to the body.

The best thing about it is the bottle: it belongs to the old style, where the cap contains the sprayer. To spray, you only need to turn the cap ¼ and turn it back after spraying, and the bottle is closed. I like this unusual and original way of opening and closing a bottle.

AA Lemon Fresca will definitely stay with me, simply because it is one of the early AAs and is very rare today. I will probably use it less frequently, but it fits into my collection.

One to the right, one to the left, one to drop
A big name that raises expectations: Guerlain. Yesss, that was probably the case once. But with waters like Aqua Allegoria, Guerlain ventures into the endless expanses of mediocrity of an ever-faster spinning product carousel, at least in the case of Lemon Fresca. It seems to me that Guerlain is following the well-known pattern here - one to the right, one to the left, one to drop or in other words: If it doesn’t work to the right, then let’s try to the left, and if that doesn’t work either, then we drop it and start all over again. This is how one-day flies are created. Many of these Aquas are nothing more. Exceptions, in my opinion, are Mandarine Basilisque and Pamplelune. More on that perhaps somewhere else someday.

In fact, Aqua Allegoria Lemon Fresca starts off almost overwhelmingly lemony and very refreshing - that’s not the worst for summer and I like it. But as soon as the spray has dried on the skin, a note of toilet cleaner freshness develops, to which shortly after Dr. Oetker’s baking aroma lemon or perhaps lemon peel joins, although fortunately the weight shifts increasingly away from the toilet cleaner and towards Dr. Oetker, which is probably due to the addition of anise that I can detect in hints.

In any case, I can’t really warm up to the idea of being in an intimate embrace with Dr. Oetker in the bathroom. Also, when I smell directly on the skin, I get a burning sensation on my tongue, which I don’t like either. It’s strange that this only happens with newer products, not with older ones, even though all the “dangerous” substances have been banned by now.

Well, I don’t want to scare off anyone looking for something summery and light with my first comment on Lemon Fresca. The theme of lemon is at least consistently implemented with a scent progression that celebrates lemon in various forms, but for my taste, it’s overall a bit too artificial. The longevity is also not impressive, and a large aura doesn’t develop either. Well, one shouldn’t expect both from a freshness dispenser of this kind.

Conclusion for me: I would expect such a water more in a drugstore - a scent that the world doesn’t need. This also implies that I consider the regular price to be excessive. But as we all know, everyone perceives that differently. And now I’m waiting for comments that will enlighten me otherwise - I can provide a little bottle of Lemon Fresca for testing ;-).

At first glance, it might seem a bit unremarkable, but the citrus note actually reveals a bitter lime green, and I like that.
