Layers of Leather

Cuir Intense opens with a distinctive note that evokes the scent of shoe polish or lacquered leather. It is sharp, almost industrial in character... and I appreciate that for some, this intro may be too much. For those who are patient, the fragrance will unfold into a more nuanced leather experience.

After about 30 minutes, the leather accord begins to shift, becoming drier and more tar-like. As the fragrance evolves, the initial harshness softens. Osmanthus and ylang-ylang introduce a gentle floral sweetness that smooths the edges of the leather and leads into a warm, resinous heart.
In the dry-down, notes of sandalwood, tobacco, and cedar emerge, adding a creamy, smoky, and subtly sweet finish. These base notes round out the composition with a sense of depth and balance.

Cuir Intense presents itself as a multi-faceted leather fragrance. It is unisex, but decisively leaning masculine with a clear progression from bold to refined.
Though I’ve only sampled it a handful of times, its high quality aligns well with the rest of the Absolus Allegoria line. Very good price at discounters!

Classy !!

I admit it, i adore leathery scents.
And this one is a perfect example.
I had tested it in perfumery before launching myself blindly.
Because with this kind of juice, it is better to insure.
Powerful and contrasting, this creation by Thierry Wasser, Master Perfumer at Guerlain, is inspired by the noble material of leather.
An exceptional raw material, leather is an integral part of a thousand year old tradition in Orient.
Thierry Wasser pays homage to him in a perfume that highlights his strength, flexibility and sensuality.
In his creation, the perfumer relies on the contrasts between the power of woody leathery notes and the light of osmanthus flower with fruity apricot facets.
A very interesting olfactory pyramid bringing together accords of leather, wood, tobacco, with a beautiful animal side.
Top notes are osmanthus and ylang ylang, followed by heart notes of leather and musk, ending on the base notes with Virginia cedar, sandalwood and tobacco.
One of the most persistent and powerful leather perfumes i have ever smelled, if not THE most persistent !!
This juice exudes opulence, class, luxury, quality...
And is intended for people who REALLY appreciate good leather/tobacco, not those who just want to smell "good".
My personal opinion, if it was a TOM FORD perfume, this one would reach the highest peak !!
The opening is made in a deluge of very powerful and smoky leather, very masculine, strong and opulent, which transforms a little later into a clean powdery of any beauty.
To once again give you an idea of this sublime smell, imagine a very high quality leather sofa, waxy colored pencils, a hint of pipe tobacco smoke...
Mix everything with a dose of osmanthus sprinkled with a touch of musk, and you will still be very far from the truth...
Believe me, you will get what you pay for.
In regards to sillage and longevity, it's just phenomenal, and the word is weak...
More than 12 hours on me with only two sprays.
After a week, i could still detect the smell so characteristic of this Cuir Intense on my clothes.
It is so tenacious that it persisted in skin scent after 4 days (and some showers)
Little advice: Do not have a heavy hand when spraying, and do not wear this perfume at the office, otherwise your colleagues will fall like flies...
Sensitive noses to abstain.
In short, the sillage and longevity are VERY HEAVY.
A juice to wear every day? Up to you...
Young people on the other hand, sorry but you will need experience to venture out on this leathery ground...
Conclusion: One of the best leather of 2019, if not the best.
Quality ingredients, cataclysmic longevity, formidable class, in short, what more could you ask for...
One thing is certain, with this Cuir Intense, you are dressed for winter.

Cuir Intense + Ambre Eternel

For people to understand Intensely animalic fragrances like these two, something must be understood,
you have got to wait for at least 2 minutes before even thinking of smelling them if you are testing (assuming of course that you have enough intelligence not to buy them blind).

The animalic note is right in the front of everything you are going to smell, and I think that was a smart move by Thierry Wasser, instead of ending up smelling like chewed up shoe after 8-9 hours, the animalic note is right at the beginning, intense and unapologetic, naturally as time goes by it starts to fades away slowly and in the process covering everything else in a layer of class and sophistication that stays until everything dries down completely.

The fruitiness of Ambre Eternel makes it a bit more feminine than Cuir Intense, both perform admirably, smell divine and would challenge even the most seasoned fragrance collector.
Well Done Guerlain, well done.

Guerlain / Cuir Intense

And thanks to the ingot, I am finally the owner of this perfume. First league fragrance - durable, long-lasting (up to 12 hours), but in my opinion they are not revolutionary perfumes. I like them very much, but I like their cousin even more: Guerlain Bois Mysterieux (who is more revealing and mesmerizing in my opinion - the Fragrantica description).
Cuir Intense is a fragrance primarily of leather, the scent of suede and thin leather of good quality - such new gloves or a handbag made of light and thin leather. A very nice fragrance for both men and women. Somewhere in them I sense slightly similar notes to the scents of Ombre Leather perfumes, and even more to Aoud Leather (Montale). These are not perfumes that are a copy of those mentioned, but the leather notes slightly remind me of the notes of these perfumes, mixed with delicate tobacco, sandalwood and musk. Perfume worth recommending and trying. A very nice piece of work.

I’m in love with this fragrance. I had read and watched others experiences of this scent and I am glad I didn’t follow.

To my nose, this is not at all the rough and tumble leather I’ve read others describe it as. The leather is present and it has animatic facets. Yes. That’s said, the sweetness of this fragrance is the perfect balance to the animalic notes that would make this scent unsuitable at first. Not the redundant sweetness that has been abundant of most recent releases. I am not a sophisticated enough nose to be able to describe the difference but it does not smell like anything I’ve experienced. The closest comparison I could even think to offer is Gucci Absolut, but this blend is far superior and Absolute does not have the sweetness. I am in love with this and have started to look for a way to sell/trade for a bottle of this Gem.

Guerlain has had my respect for some time but this has made me a Thierry Wasser fan and Guerlain my favorite house.

Opens Lacquered, thick leather that gradually fades and morphs into soft smokey leather. Bit sweet too. Really well put leather frag.

It’s smoky, sweet and leathery. Some people here won’t smell leather at all.
