Leathery Booze

When I found out there's a new addition to this collection I was like WOW I NEED TO TRY IT. And it does not disappoint.

Imagine the edp, with a more lush cherry/almond note coming from the amaretto that comes off very boozy and sweet. With a strong backbone of leather, the kind of leather you smell in Ombré Leather (2018) Eau de Parfum , but here its more palatable and unfortunately it doesn't last very long.
I prefer this to the edp as this has bigger of a kick to it with the leather. Delphine Jelk really does know how to impress a loyal audience, gorgeous creation.

Nothing to be afraid of

I approached Ideal Parfum with some trepidation after my horrible experience with the Habit Rouge Parfum. In this case, my concern was unfounded. In general Ideal Parfum is a pleasant scent. It's not overly sweet. The almond is not strong as in baker's almond extract or even ground up almonds; it's quite smooth, reserved and refined. That's what you'll find in the opening. As it dries down, the almond retreats and it evolves into a pleasant, creamy, mild leathery scent with lingering almond and a subtle woody accord which I assume is the patch combined with something else. Longevity was decent with projection being more on the modest side. Definitely office safe.

Ideal Parfum, however, was not a standout for me or something that would interest me in a full bottle. Funny thing, the dry down leathery scent reminded me of Bel Ami in the far dry down, when it's almost a skin scent. Sorta watered down Bel Ami. Since I'm not much into the almond scent here, I'll stick with the stronger leathery scent of Bel Ami.

Everything the EDP Couldn’t Be!

The 2024 Parfum version is exactly what the EDP couldn’t be for me. It performs so much better on my skin. The almond note is rich and deep, and the dry down is magical. it’s smooth, warm, and inviting. I could wear it all day without it feeling too overwhelming.

What I love about it is how it evolves over time. The almond stays there, but it’s more balanced and refined. The whole fragrance feels more sophisticated, and the dry down lingers in a way that makes it even more addictive.

For me, this Parfum is the one I’ll reach for every time. It has everything I wanted from the EDP but does it so much better.

Addictive Cherry Almond

I really like this fragrance. It’s not too far off the EDP but is slightly more linear and denser as is the case with most of the Guerlain Parfum line up. This one is probably 2024 Guerlain Parfum release that is most similar to its EDP counterpart to me. Cherry, Almond, patchouli with a nice sillage that screams fall, rocking a sweater at some sort of outdoor event. It reminds me of Clive Christian’s Jump up and Kiss Me Hedonistic at a much better price point and does some things better than that fragrance. Really well done!

Date With A Special Someone

This was my first experience with a Guerlain L’Homme Ideal fragrance, so I decided to jump right into the Parfum. Upon first spray, I must say I was a little disappointed. It was a leather bomb, and I’m not too fond of fragrances that are too leather forward. But after about 20 minutes the dry down hit and it evolved into something very nice. Slightly sweet and spicy due to the amaretto and patchouli notes that emerged. Then the leather faded into the background to provide just a little bit of a creamy texture.

This smells like a very well put together gentleman. Probably 30 or older. It’s something I’d reach for to wear for a dinner date with my wife at a fancier restaurant. The scent is not sexy, but sensual. It has high staying power but is a soft projector. Only those who are allowed into your personal space will have the privilege to know how good you smell. It would also make a great scent for office wear.

Due to the notes, I’d say this fragrance leans more towards fall, winter, or spring wear. However, it’s surprisingly light wearing for a Parfum, so it would definitely work for a summer night.

Bottles are still a little hard to come by as of August 2025, but I’m sure the price will begin to drop once discounters start getting ahold of more stock.
