Dependable scent effect from start to finish!
Okay, so let's address the elephant in the room; the parallels to Alien. The fragrance community seems unanimous in its verdict that Addictive Vibration is indeed Alien-esque , & while it does have some characteristics borrowed from its designer counterpart, Addictive Vibration is still in a league of its own. I personally believe that the similarities are more random & unintentional than deliberate. A belief that is further reaffirmed by the distinctly non-identical note pyramids. Think of Addictive Vibration as a poetry-reading, more contemplative & sophisticated Alien. It does open with similar grape-juice facets but Addictive Vibration is decidedly smoother & more challenging. As a biased Alien loyalist, it's paining me to admit that Addictive Vibration is marginally better but that's only because of how L'Oréal has butchered & terribly reformulated the og Alien into the current day Alien.
Coming down to another frequent criticism of this perfume; the MUSK. Initio's musk is regarded as somewhat divisive in character from what I've observed through the reviews. However, for me, the slightly animalic, almost dirty/damp & earthy Addictive Vibration musk was truly a rewarding experience. I try to steer clear of excessively powdery, laundry-clean, Narciso-Rodriguez-trademark-musk so the musk in here was a welcome departure from these proverbial musks. Here, it's carnal & sensual - like the hot skin of a beloved, to which you react with swooning indulgence. These erotically charged musks can take all my money!
AV only features 5 notes; Honey, Musk, Orange Blossom, Apple Blossom & Vanilla Orchid. The honey note is immediately perceptible upon opening, which lingers beautifully throughout the progression. The honeyed white flowers create an effect of inviting yet mysterious touch. It's not without precedent that white flowers pair well with musk, as it helps to enhance their indoles. Colour me utterly fascinated! No exaggeration to flat-out admit that Addictive Vibration is undeniably in the outright-love category for me. Throw your performance concerns out the window as this one is loud and proud.
