L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme - Shades of Kolam ( limited edition)
amazing new- Issey,
Beautiful lemon-Grepfruit aroma very creamy, Bold, smooth, modern, slightly spicy, with surprisingly good longevity. 6-7 hours on me . With nice fine projection.
For me the perfect MODERN fragrance for spring and summer

It's worth the while if you give it a chance
When I first got Shades of Kolam it was a little disappointing, it wasn't bad at all but nothing extraordinary or exciting so it went to the back of the fragrance cabinet however, me being a Issey Miyake fan I decided to revisit it today.

Man, was I wrong about this fragrance! I've been getting whiffs of it all day and it's heavenly. The bergamot and grapefruit team up with the tea giving it a fresh but soothing feel, very nice, in addition to that I get a strong fig milk with a creamy coconut feel which is strange as this is what I get the most and none of them are listed in the notes and then there is the cashmeran which feels a little synthetic but Kolam pulls it off alright.

Performance on this is very decent for a freshie, I get easily 7 hours just spray freely and don't be shy. Projection is also real good, I'm impressed. This is certainly a spring/summer scent, it's ideal for warm days I just wouldn't recommend it for scorching hot days as this milky note may be a little heavy in the dead of summer.

A very nice release by Issey Miyake, I'm really glad to have it in my collection specially since I've read many comments about this being discontinued.

I once saw a documentary about the Italian coast and got lost there
The headline may almost seem like a conclusion to this fragrance. It tries to combine many existing elements and mix them with its own notes. However, it has strayed from the path and fails to fully reach its goal.

Upon the first spray, I immediately thought of an Acqua di Parma perfume. Rather involuntarily, as it has little in common with those Mediterranean scents. However, it seems to want to draw something from the citrus freshness of the top notes.
Unfortunately, it does not succeed, as this citrus is heavily overshadowed by woody notes and a strong gust of cardamom. You can tell it would like to reveal more of that, but it is held back by the aforementioned notes. Therefore, it does not come close to the wonderful aromas of the Acqua di Parma fragrances.

After a while, some herbs join in, which it must have found somewhere in its home garden. I can detect a bit of coriander or parsley there. Again, it has unfortunately not made it from the home garden to the open landscapes of southern European countries. Instead of rosemary and basil, we have German parsley. But that doesn't have to be bad. It remains rather down-to-earth, mainly due to the consistently woody undertone.

You don't even have to make the well-known citrus compromises regarding longevity. It lasts surprisingly well and creates a delicate cloud over the sprayed areas, especially within the first 2-3 hours.

Thus, it is indeed a good candidate to be tested this summer. Upon further reflection, it even reminds me a bit of a Tom Ford Costa Azurra Aqua, which I also like very much.

In conclusion, it remains a really good fragrance, but not one that is consistently carried through to the end, with which you definitely won't make a mistake at the offered price.

Interestingly, you can compare it to the current Corona situation. It tries to fly to the Mediterranean but is not allowed to, and therefore it remains in the home garden, basking near the vegetable patch.

New Summer Edition 2020?
Recently tested at Müller. It has a very nice, fresh opening and is well balanced. I don't know if this is the Summer Edition 2020? In any case, a candidate for the upcoming summer and worth a test ;) !

A short but affordable pleasure
When I first sniffed this fragrance in the blue retail store, I wanted it immediately. Especially at the price of about €25, I didn't care at all about a potential mispurchase. Shades of Kolam has a nice, fresh (though for me, undefinable) opening, but it also disappears just as quickly. After a few minutes today, I could hardly perceive anything anymore. On my right wrist, Shades of Kolam was hardly noticeable after just an hour. Now, after 6 hours, I only have an undefinable scent on my wrist. However, I want to point out that this could very well be due to my nose, as there are 1-2 scents that I simply can hardly perceive). In contrast, on my left wrist, L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme, which I don't like, is still quite noticeable after 6 hours.
For a short summer evening, it is still very suitable, which is why it will remain in my collection. I will just keep trying it throughout the year; maybe my nose just doesn't want to appreciate it right now.

Away from the OG, it's a lot of vibes with Guess 1981 Indigo for Men. I get the mineral fig, the milky coconut, and the dusty iris

Expensive, sweet, citrusy suntan lotion. Fresh-green, yet slightly woody in the drydown. What Le Beau should have been.

The opening is very similar to Fusion D'issey Extreme, but goes in a greener direction vs the blue of Fusion. Owning both may be redundant.

Spicy-fresh - shifting from light to dark with a unsweetened coconut note in the brilliant top note - not too heavy
Great for the price!!

Indian charm - bought. Spicy, slightly oriental, thankfully no coconut, then a bit woody. Unbeatable price/performance.

Cardamom and coconut sweeten the green tea. The opening is fresh and citrusy. Overall, a successful leisure and vacation scent, also great as a pandemic escape.

Cardamom with freshness at the top, which is quite nice. A bit of woodiness and a hint of herbs mix in. Definitely good for summer.

Lots of spice and wood, little of the fruity notes. It's more for men than for boys. I like it...
