The most beautifully perfumed UFO fiery crash.
This has been my signature perfume for years, along with its stronger, more mature sister, Le Feu. When they stopped making Le Feu, I stocked up on all the bottles I could find of both, so thankfully I still have a few I can enjoy. Le Feu was indeed a challenging perfume at the time it was launched because it was like nothing else on the market, but now I think it would be not just a contemporary perfume, but one that many people would appreciate and understand. The light version was softer, less daring than the original. I mean, the opening on that one! Boy! It was like a UFO had crashed, all molten plastic and metal up in flames. But then, as the smoke started to clear, the most amazing aroma of roses, milk, mahogany and ambery cedar would envelope you, and for me, it was the most perfect feeling in the world. Neither version is gourmand by any means, as the notes listed might lead you to believe. It was darkness and light, a perfect composition, by no means masculine; as a woman I can't imagine who'd find this masculine. Unisex leaning feminine, perhaps. I suppose the recent sweet-gourmand tendency is dulling our senses and making people think anything that deviates from that is masculine.
I hope against hope that the Miyake house would consider a relaunch, but also, I'm not holding my breath. A lot of the offers from the house have been so incredibly diluted and disappointing recently, that I seriously doubt they have the guts to make something as bold and creative as this again. Also, who the heck thinks any of the Le Feu perfumes resemble Replica by Margiella? Don't make me laugh! The audacity of that comparison is insulting at the very least.
