A more sexual and carnal version of the original
I love Joop! Homme, and this had always been the flanker that attracted me the most, that is why "Extreme" and "Eau de Toilette Intense". The fact is that he had been behind him for some time, but whenever he found it, he had a very high price, or it was a website with no shipping to Spain. In short, I found it difficult to get a bottle at a good price, but in the end the wait was worth it, and without waiting I found a very good offer, and came home.

His subtitle "Extreme" and his cataloging of "Eau de Toilette Intense" had me crazy, especially because the original I love, and if this was more extreme, well .... Imagine, drooling like a madman, but ... NO, it is not more intense, or more durable, or project more than the original, and I do not compare it with the vintage version of the original, I mean the current version. On that side I've taken a small disappointment, but on the other, it more than makes up for its aroma, I love it!

Joop! Homme Extreme is a dark, seductive and magnetic aroma, it is astonishing, and in spite of being a perfume of 2014, it has the powerhouse ochentera essence of the original, although, yes, much more restrained. The output is a kind of cherry syrup acidulated with dark cocoa powder. It is like a dessert of red fruits sprinkled with cocoa powder, a delight without exceeding in sweetness. Then, a plastic floral note (Hedione) begins to come into play, like a nod to the original, on a background of patchouli and leather, precious, and all this, with a slight residual red tone, which, although it does not smell the same, It reminds you of every moment where it comes from. It is a sensation of dark chocolate in sweet powder, agreed and woody with a limp and dirty floral tone, but everything very carnal and sexual, it is addictive, I do not know how to explain it, but it is really beautiful.

The performance is moderate high, its duration in skin is between 7 or 8 hours, but already the last hour very close to skin. The wake is very intense the first hour, then low to moderate, which is not bad, but it is nothing "extreme" as its name says.

I feel a night perfume at any time of year, and for cold seasons can be used equally day and night, although that already goes according to the tastes of the consumer, but for me, it is a very versatile perfume.

Beware of this perfume, because like its mother fragrance, it is not perfume for everyone. If you like the original, you will like this almost certainly, but if, on the contrary, you do not like the original, this, possibly, you do not like it either, because it has that synthetic and plastic seal of the original implicit, that I love and others not so much, so be very careful with this before your blind purchase.

Sorry for my bad english.

Don't follow the herd, get your voice heard!
I've always been fond of Joop Homme since the very moment it was released on the market in 1989. And Extreme is reckoned to provide men with a warm, animalic fragrance that can be worn day or night. This controversial fragrance opens with the powerful top note of cacao that perfectly blends into the deep heart of leather. The scent closes with the earthy, fresh base accord of patchouli.

Wow! This was a blind buy risk that actually paid off big-time! I love this scent. I've read the reviews here and there and I can agree or disagree with most, though to my nose, this is an astonishing fragrance, it wears well on my skin and got compliments. I can't understand why all the negative reviews, I find this one pretty addictive. I struggle with the list of notes, for me the dominant aspect of this one is a kind of berry/cherry note. I get the cacao and leather. Let's see how it plays.

JOOP! Homme Extreme is an Oriental Spicy fragrance based on an unexpected blend of untamed spices and luxurious woods. It opens with the same sweetness and is only slightly less sweet than the original. On the initial spray, I get a dark chocolate sensation mixed with bitter and dark cherry, more similar to tart liquor than to mellow syrup. Here I recognize few similarities with Joop Homme, still Extreme is less sweet and less sharp. The velvety black cocoa powder is intense, redolent, full of pure sexiness, yet without the gourmand aspect that is present in a praline for instance.

Once the initial bittersweet cacao wears off, it gives way to a blend of leather and spices that I personally enjoy. At the heart of the fragrance, the cologne is formed around a carnal and intoxicating hot skin accord, a sort of secret ingredient. It is bland and tender leather, a soft suede. It slowly develops to a more dark variation of the original Joop. Its heavy, obscure, cherry smell is similar to Azzaro Elixir mixed with powdery touches. It's the best stage of the fragrance and it totally captures the feeling Joop intended to give us extremely. Deep and velvety black cocoa notes are the perfect counterpoint to this mysterious accord and are used to express the intensity of the physical act of love. Scents of leather and warm spiciness dominate the heart.

The dry down comes with rich woods and warming spices, which round off the sensuous experience. The modern patchouli base infuses a dimension of sexiness, making it utterly addictive and addictive. All the Joop! men's colognes have a trademark sweetness to them. In general, I think these are a good fit for younger men who would like sweetness. I generally don't love sweeter perfumes but this is well-balanced. Noteworthy, this is the most synthetic-smelling of the Joop! fragrances.

The notes and the overall aroma make me think of a bold scent for the cold season, day or night, it is not overpowering and no one would complain or get offended if you wear it at the office. Compared with the original, both sillage and longevity are weaker, anyway, 5 to 6 hours is the time I could smell it on my skin and projection stay close to the arms. Should I recommend this juice? Yeah, sure. If you are anything like me and love Joop Homme, this one won't let you down.

You'd smell the scent from miles just like animals. It makes the allusion between a desire for a lover to the far-scent abilities of animals.

Don't Be Misled by the Appearance
Here it's a bit different. It seems to be an unsympathetic show-off at first glance, trying to grab attention, but deep down it has class. Or maybe it's just really good at what it does. As one might say.

You have to give Joop credit; their Homme gimmick works just the same, but I haven't come across a qualitatively poor one yet. Some even seem to be more contemporary than the original, even though that itself fits well into the sweet and hearty zeitgeist. In my opinion, the summer variants are often severely underestimated or fly well under the radar.

This is probably due to the flashy appearance, especially for those with a bit more discerning noses, as is the case here. However, what is extreme here is actually extremely good. I'm still undecided about which is more accurate. The blend of "Joop Homme" with "Bvlgari Black," where sweetness meets heavily roasted vanilla or tea and tar or tire burnout, or is it, especially in the drydown, the best Cherry Coke I've ever sniffed. By the way, (still) better than "Magnetism for Men" by Escada. Anyway, it's very good or at least interesting and extreme, but not necessarily extreme in the sense of sweetness.

I had feared too much of the good "Homme," but one knows that the extreme versions are not necessarily a magnification of the original. With some of these versions, you do wonder what the name is all about, but that's another topic. Here, the name certainly has its justification in an innovative way. I perceive chocolate and patchouli, which are often equated these days or patchouli is often sold as chocolate in fragrances, less. In the end, it has an appearance as described above. You certainly don't always crave "Joop! Homme Extreme," but as a substitute for "One Million" in the sense of a going-out scent, I can very well imagine it, and I'm sure it will be positively received, provided the fragrance doesn't become a status symbol for some dubious characters. Unfortunately, that can happen, and with this flashy appearance, Joop does quite a bit to contribute to that.

This Damn Nostalgia!
At first, I wanted to use the headline "Don't believe me, I'm a liar!" and structure the comment so that it was full of false statements where the exact opposite is true. But there's no need to complicate things and confuse everyone, and it wouldn't really fit a rather simple Joop Homme flanker from 2014 anyway. Still, I have to warn you: Joop Homme was my entry into the world of perfume 2.5 years ago, and there are so many (party) memories attached to it that nostalgia slightly clouds my view. This also explains why I marched a few extra kilometers today just to test the new Extreme at Müller.

My first thought when smelling it (not just when seeing the bottle color) - oh, probably closer to Wild than to the original. But in the end, it is unique enough not to be easily dismissed; it is a blend of the original and Wild. I can definitely say that it is much calmer than both and it should have been called Night or Dark - because there is nothing extreme here, except for the flashy, intrusive advertising text. Another fact is that the drydown from hour 5 is almost identical to the original drydown, just always half as strong, or the 1988 steamroller has a double half-life. The really interesting part happens in the first 5 hours. The scent is sweet, dark, young, mysterious, bitter-woody, sultry, very chemical. A mix of cocoa, leather, patchouli, absinthe, and the original pink killer. Lots of patchouli, a bit of modern hippie feeling. A funny mix of Joop Homme Wild and Memoir Man, even if it sounds super strange.

Bottle: flashy, typical Joop Homme (more like Wild)
Sillage: still party-worthy, but definitely toned down!
Longevity: very good, just shy of a father - 10 hours!

Even though the name was poorly chosen and Joop Homme no longer has the fans it once did - I now like Extreme after Wild! But despite the explosive launch price, I don't feel a compulsion to buy and prefer to linger a bit longer in this familiar base and memories... Bus rides, sweaty shirts, discos, drinks, women, Cologne at night... Oh no, what a great time that was!

From Synth-Pop to Dancefloor Banger
I have this habit: I like to compare perfume to music. I don't know why, maybe it's because both forms of art (though in the case of perfumery, one should rather speak of "craftsmanship") evoke so much atmosphere, moods, and images in my head. And in some cases, my impressions of music and perfume somehow fit together in my mind.

This worked particularly well with "Joop! Homme." For me, being a child of its time, it has always been synth-pop. Kylie Minogue, Blue System, Camouflage. Pleasing, sweet, really hitting hard, but also incredibly synthetic. Music for the clubs - strobe lights, neon lights. Commercially incredibly successful, but an absolute no-go in critic circles. In fact: purely from sales figures, every second person must have had those records at home - but no one who wanted to be cool and sophisticated would admit it. "Joop! Homme" must have been like that too.

After about 25 years, a lot has changed. Instead of discotheques, clubs are now in demand. Epilepsy-inducing lighting technology is out, the masses prefer more subdued, "styled" lighting. Hardly anyone wants to provoke anymore; they want to be perceived as well-groomed and attractive. Everything is a bit smoother. Just like the music: it has become denser and bass-heavy, but also significantly tamer and "polished." However, more and more often, you hear in these clubby chart bangers samples from songs of the first half of the 90s that have been sampled for the new hit.

And that's exactly how I perceive "Joop! Homme Extreme." A perfume assembled for the current audience taste, roughly incorporating the basic structure of the original "Joop! Homme." You can faintly perceive it in the last stanza: the scent melody of the synth-pop; patchouli. Maybe heliotrope? Possibly something floral as well. However, wrapped in the olfactory sound that currently resonates best with young people: gourmand. A distinct cocoa note with dark berries runs through the heart note. Calmer, dimmed, but absolutely contemporary. The young club crowd loves it, while others wrinkle their noses: too commercial, too trashy, too computer-generated. Where are the live instruments? It wasn't so bad back in the day.

Comparing "Joop! Homme Extreme" to expensive niche fragrances would be like comparing pop music to classical or jazz: inappropriate. Both directions appeal to completely different audiences. I would never enjoy "Homme Extreme" like a classical piece in a quiet chamber. The scent is music for the clubs: go out, dance, flirt. Feel like a pop star. Extremely easy to consume, party-friendly, unpretentious, mood-lifting.

Absolutely nothing for the history books. Bach and Mozart will remain forever, the next hit from Rihanna will be forgotten in six months. Then something else will be cool again. Just like all the club tracks that no one wants to hear anymore after a while. But honestly? We are still in the here and now, and that's where the magic of the moment counts.

And between us: it’s really fun right now.

OK maybe not the ultimate benchmark, but this scent deserves more than 5.9! Just for the melancholy and the price.

Sweet-synthetic berry mix with an underlying cocoa note. I don't find it particularly special, but women think it's really nice.

Better than expected! I was expecting a strong sweet scent! But there's probably patchouli and cocoa! I also notice hairspray!

Purely synthetic. But it just fits here.
The Homme DNA is definitely present.
A bit of cocoa and patchouli too.
Wearable from time to time.

Nothing here is bad in my opinion. This scent has its own character. But it lacks something special. Unremarkable.

Indefinable composition. Initially very berry-like, then just synthetic and musty. Unfortunately overwhelming. Actually unbearable.
