Chestnut Mania
The original "Wow!" has brought Joop back on track, back in the game. Even if it’s certainly not a qualitative hit, it is more than wearable, a fine tip for beginners, well above the level of previous Joop cucumbers. Now I’ve come across the more intense EdP variant...

... and it can even offer a bit more! It’s a very cinnamon, brown-creamy charmer, perfect for autumn and winter. Similar to the original, just with more depth, darkness, and texture. If I had to choose between the two, I would definitely take this somewhat grimmer cousin. Still not a revelation, very straightforward, simple, and hardly changing - but then at least you know what you have. A bit nutty, a bit spicy, extremely iris-powdery. The base is super beautiful, but somehow also super boring. Nevertheless: “Wow!” doesn’t fully live up to its name, but I would wear it with pleasure anytime. And you don’t come across chestnuts that clearly recognizable in a (men's) perfume every day. Not edgy but grown-up, not completely unsweet but never sugary-pasty-cheap, nothing totally new but still with enough character of its own. Joop is worth testing again!

Bottle: darker and just as boring as the original. But a solid sprayer. At least.
Sillage: something for the Christmas market. You unfortunately need elbows more often there.
Longevity: lasts and feels... not as long as expected. 4-5 hours

Conclusion: (even) better, denser, more autumnal than the original. A creamy dream of cinnamon and cashmeran. Cozy and soft. To find a nicer Joop, you would have to travel far back in time...

Quality is what pleases. Exler, Georg-Wilhelm
The first wow was quite pleasing and already well noticeable. This more intense version is even a step better in longevity and rounds off the pleasant aspects of the orange and cinnamon.
The intense wave doesn’t always have to be bad. Here, Joop does a pretty good job alongside his absolute homme. The ingredients are all harmonious and the strength is very well noticeable for up to eight hours. The warmth fits perfectly with the beginning of winter, and the freshness with the vetiver is also a positive aspect. For a fragrance in the mid-price range, it feels significantly more premium.
The strong longevity might be a bit boring, as it doesn’t develop much. It remains sweet and yet spicy from start to finish, which may lack depth for fragrance poets. For everyone else, it’s sufficient and makes you want to wear it again.
Joop did everything right in 2019 on the men's side; let's see what the often-criticized brand has in store for us in 2020.

Very helpful Review 6
Joop can do it again...
I received this fragrance as a gift today and was initially not happy about it at all. Giving fragrances as gifts is a tricky business; it can really backfire. But not this time. I am totally thrilled!
First, a quick note on the name: designations like Intense, Sport, Extreme, etc. are now just common, and there has been enough gossip about that. Point.
The scent: the original "Wow" DNA is recognizable, combined with a light sweetness that doesn't annoy but is skillfully balanced, probably due to the vetiver. As it develops, the mainstream tonka bean comes into play, but I actually like that here very much. Longevity and projection are worthy of an EdP, and I've already received compliments, though from the lady who gifted it to me. Not entirely neutral, then, but whatever ;-).

“The autumn is here and I am in love.” ― Kamand Kojouri
On YouTube, you can currently scroll through countless top lists like “best fall scents for men,” starting with everybody's darling Jeremy, through Gents Scents, Demi Rawling, Redolessence, to Max Forti and many lesser-known names. These lists essentially recite the usual mainstream suspects depending on the author, such as Spicebomb Extreme, Azzaro Wanted by Night, Stronger with You, Ultramale, and the like. However, there are always hidden gems that I wouldn't have thought of, like Azzaro pour Homme Amber Fever or Issey Miyake's Nuit d'Issey Noir Argent. So, eyes closed and go for it!
The fragrances of the cooler season create for me, with their sweet, heavier, partly gourmand notes, a more tangible atmosphere and mental imagery compared to the fresh summer scents. Whether I stroll through the Christmas market with Spicebomb, grill marshmallows by the campfire with Replica by the Fireplace, enjoy apple strudel with Layton, or explore an Indian spice shop with DSquared's Potion, I simply love being transported to another place by scents and letting my soul dangle.
Wow! for Men EdP Intense is one such representative that I miss in the aforementioned top lists. Mainstream, but not really widespread (currently only one entry in the Souk), pleasant, but with a recognizable character, yes, almost niche in a way. Here, only three notes really play loudly. There is the chestnut, which sets the tone throughout, there is cinnamon - the sweet variety, and cashmeran, which refreshes the fragrance and balances the sweetness. This trio makes me feel like I'm walking through an autumn forest on a sunny afternoon, nibbling on roasted chestnuts. The orange note, which particularly accompanies the first half of the development, clearly sets the fragrance apart from the heavier winter sweets like Spicebomb or Stronger with You, making it an ideal candidate for autumn in my opinion. Wow! Intense is harmoniously composed, the fragrance develops coherently, and none of its phases annoys, even though it lasts long and is clearly perceivable by those around. It is universally wearable for those over 20, but I would rather reach for one of the Guerlains for a formal meeting. A well-rounded composition that, if it didn't say JOOP on it, could easily be sold for more than 30 EUR per 40ml. The presentation is minimalist: a metallic bottle with a sparingly dispensing atomizer and a plastic ring instead of a cap. However, I really like the play of colors and it communicates aptly what one experiences after spraying.
Wow! Intense embodies for me, like hardly any other fragrance, a positive autumn feeling that I love to share and experience myself. A blind buy or at least a test candidate!

Joop! Meh! Intense
I purchased Joop! Wow! Intense quite some time ago, before Parfumo. I smelled the edT on my father and then had to buy it for myself. At that time, I assumed that flankers all smell the same, just stronger or weaker, so I ended up getting the Intense version. "Then I have the same scent, just intense!" I thought in my naive and eager-to-buy way.
Well, after gaining some experience and approaching the topic of fragrances with at least a bit more competence than I had at the time of purchasing this scent, I must say that the initial euphoria has faded.
Joop! Wow! Intense does not need to hide, but I cannot recommend it here. The reason is, as with many very sweet designer fragrances, that it lacks character.
I increasingly have the impression of smelling the same sweet sludge, just packaged differently.

"Here we make it a bit brighter and sweeter, here a bit darker and more mysterious, and here we make One Million 2.0 and so on and so forth. And to make sure no one notices how poorly we actually fine-tune something or how cheap our ingredients really are, we just throw in sugar endlessly. That works for cola, iced tea, and so on."
- Brilliant, Wolfgang!

That's okay too, because these fragrances have their market, and I don't think they smell bad - just not particularly, which is why I can't quite understand the rating of 8.2.
A scent of this kind is enough in the collection, provided you want to keep it particularly small or don't have a special story or past associated with the fragrance. Many have this story with the Joop! Homme that I disdain, while I must confess to feeling those nostalgic happy feelings with One Million.
Yes, I know, shame on me, but that's just how it is.

Regarding the scent experience: Please do not expect a fine analysis of a highly complex fragrance. In my opinion, it is not, and even if it were, there would still be the issue that I do not have glazed chestnuts as a central scent note, which is probably also due to the cancellation of the Christmas markets. Therefore, I will try to place it for you a bit so that you get an idea of the sweetness.
The sweetness is very present. You should like sweet fragrances as the main theme and not just as a subordinate accompaniment. Spiciness does not stand out clearly here unless you perceive sweet cinnamon as spicy, while the note of salt is probably more associated with maritime, aquatic nuances and not declared as a prime example of spiciness. However, the sweetness is kept more in check than it is with the completely overloaded Joop! Homme, and it does not radiate as brightly as it does with One Million. A small plus point compared to the absolute average of these fragrances.
Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo Signature, on the other hand, which I would categorize in the same fragrance group, I would describe as significantly darker - for sweet fragrances, at least with no clearly identifiable notes. The scent progression remains quite linear, although in the first five minutes an unpleasant alcoholic note stings my nose, which then subsides.
Longevity and sillage are decent, but the fragrance is still not a monster. Also, the scent lying in the air is somewhat more pleasant, but that is nothing special either.
I only like the shape of the bottle. The non-transparent bronze bottle, the spray head, and the ring cap are, in my opinion, really unsuccessful.
Compliments can be expected in the average range, as with all "specials" of this kind, and in terms of price, the fragrance does not score poorly or particularly well with this composition.
Thank you for reading!

A sweeter and stronger version of Wow, but not overly sticky-sweet as the notes might suggest, original easily recognizable, good!

Plum soaked in schnapps, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar - really very delicious. Top, better than the original and very high quality.

WOW. With this one, you can pull chestnuts out of the fire. Powerful vetiver.
Charming tonka friend. A diplomat in silky cashmere.

Without a sugar shock, a versatile winter scent that is rather subtle. The sweetness and spiciness are well balanced with vetiver.

So my chestnuts lie on plum jam and somehow a dark rose is on the plate. Fine, soft, cozy, sensual, mystical, and unisex.

After two cups of mulled wine, off to the chestnut stand!
The sweetness is nicely balanced by the vetiver.

Creamy autumn/winter charmer that makes your day cozier in the cold season. Also acceptable in terms of longevity.

Solid sweetness, cozy, delicious, not particularly sophisticated but well-rounded.
Definitely unisex.
Good, but not irreplaceable for the price.
