Great all-rounder
Kajal has more or less become my favorite brand in recent years. This brand doesn't release as much as other brands, but the quality is great and the fruity fragrances in particular really suit my taste. Here's a review of the Kajal Homme, which I haven't owned for very long. I tested this Homme and found it to be very good. In terms of price, this great fragrance is also available from time to time at good prices (approx. 40-50% below the RRP of 210€/100ml). A really great year-round fragrance that could be described as an all-rounder. Since the freshness is somewhat limited, it is not suitable for really summery temperatures, but otherwise a great fragrance that can be used in many ways. Overall, this fragrance is difficult to describe and hard to put into one category. It has no real twins and it has something of many facets: great wood, a beautiful aromatic spiciness, pleasantly not too strong sweetness, light oriental DNA and also some citrusy, tangy freshness. It reminds me very slightly of a fresher version of Pana Dora's Imperial Wood. Otherwise, I don't find the twins mentioned here to be so accurate. The Spanish perfumer duo have done a great job here.
For me, the bottle is a 10 with an asterisk for this brand. Solid glass, heavy, elegant lid with a great look and the attached metal label is also really beautiful. The liquid of the fragrance has a great brownish touch. The box is also pretty. It's not a bad thing that niche packaging is not used here.
As I said, the fragrance is rather complex and not so easy to describe. It's a wild mix that doesn't push too much in one direction. But it certainly has charm and is sure to catch some people's attention. The fruity-citrus top note brings something pleasantly fresh and keeps this fragrance on the simpler side for the first few hours. Blackcurrant plays a big part here and brings that slightly berry-fruity vibe. There is also a great pink grapefruit note that is juicy-citrusy but also a little fruity-sweet. Mandarin is somewhat underplayed, but could play a role. This is followed by spicy and woody notes that are a little oriental, but not too much. Somewhat darker guaiac wood provides a great woody tone, which harmonizes well with a light oud touch and dark patchouli. Cardamom adds a great sensual spice that is not so penetrating. In contrast to the slightly dark oriental notes comes a clean mix of musk and cashmeran which keeps this fragrance soft and clean. Sandalwood also goes well with this combination with these great soft woody notes. The sweetness is provided by some tonka and vanilla. Everything is very well balanced so that this mix never goes too much in one direction. Very harmonious and you don't get the feeling that you are smelling this fragrance for the umpteenth time. Perfect for everyday life thanks to this balanced DNA.
Performance is top like all of this brand. Longevity should be a little over 10 hours and the sillage is really strong for the first few hours. The DNA is not overwhelming so that it is very wearable in everyday life. However, this sensual charm also makes it a good evening fragrance.
Rather not a blind buy candidate. Not because it is not appealing, but because the overall picture of this fragrance is rather wild and difficult to categorize. Nevertheless, a really great fragrance from a brand that I really appreciate.
