Very short lasting
I received an official Kolada sample and have been excited to try this one. I’m not a fan of Kajal, and while I did love Äican I still found it too heavy and a bit too masculine for me personally. I also find their bottles quite cheap and gaudy looking for the price, but maybe they’re nicer in person.

Kolada is a disappointing surprise so far. Where Kajal fragrances are usually very long lasting, this one disappears within 5 minutes on me. I’m surprised some found this lasted hours, because on me this was piss poor! No silage or projection. I get the classic Kajal dna in the immediate opening, with pineapple and coconut. It’s a creamy, fruity scent, but there isn’t much else going on. It lasted only a few minutes before I could only smell it faintly, and I did overspray. It just isn’t worth £200

Spraying Kolada next to Amore Torrido they smell identical. Amore Torrido is a scent I don’t like as it reminds me of warm fruit spoiling in the heat of the sun. So while I liked Kolada initially and thought it was a gorgeous virgin pina colada scent, it’s now a pass for me. I’ll stick with Narco Oasis and Leisure in Paradise

Pineapple in the head
First things first: If you like it really sickly sweet, packed full of pineapple and lots of cream, with a very rich hint of coconut, then this is the right place for you.

An extremely sweet fragrance that smells like a hearty pina colada and literally rocks the summer and the heat. Like this and nothing else! Kolada is made for moments like these. But it's definitely too sweet for me, because when I put it on, all I can think about is pineapple. It literally booms inside me, but there are people who are really into that. As I tested it over the weeks, I was often approached. Even twice by strangers who were blown away by this sweet fragrance that literally attracts sweet looks.

But there's not much art behind it. For me, it's just sweet from start to finish... packed with a strong note of pineapple, surrounded by coconut, which combine smoothly and slide into the heart in an extremely creamy way. There is just a very subtle touch of flowers in the background. Finally, something sandy, sweetly ensnared with a powdery note.

Both the sillage and the longevity could definitely have more oomph, because the fragrance doesn't quite have that on first contact. It is quite restrained for its sweetness when it comes to taking over a person or a room.

The bottle is of course a matter of taste, but for kajal, as is well known, it has a heavy lid.
Personally, I stick to the usual drink (Pina Colada) and prefer to give the bottling to someone who can't get enough of pineapple.

Golden coconut dreams: Kolada - the piña colada for spraying
With Kolada, Kajal is launching a real summer flirt in bottle form; shimmering gold, tropical, and sensual like a luxurious cocktail on a white sandy beach; perfectly embodying the feeling of an ice-cold Pina Colada in the evening sun. Well, to be honest, I was initially massively "caught" by the bottle, but after many coconut fragrances I was tired; either too feminine, too milky, too sweet, too heavy or simply unwearable. All there, but not much good.

So what is the Kolada like? - First of all and before I start: I don't understand who gives such performance ratings. Firstly, it's a kind of fragrance DNA, which shouldn't usually project so extremely strongly. Secondly, it feels like everyone expects fragrances to be on steroids, everything has to be Maison-Crivelli-like hammering out, balling out. For me, this is absolutely incomprehensible, not a performance beast, but sufficient enough... and otherwise just spray it on. Perfume is a luxury, and not every spray has to be "worthwhile" in the sense of projecting for 15 hours; at least not with summer fragrances.

- So now for the opening; this is a really tangy fruity bang; juicy ripe pineapple meets a delicate citrus breeze, accompanied by tropical fruity notes that really give you beach bar feels. It smells like you're taking your first sip of a well-mixed cocktail; chilled, sweet, but also with an elegant effervescence. Definitely puts you in a good mood.

- Then comes the Kajal-specific floral company DNA. Here, lily of the valley and violet sway like a light sea breeze through the tropical sweetness and lend the fragrance a beautiful airy, powdery floral DNA, a successful floral incision after this sparkling, fruity opening. The coconut is slowly approaching.

- In the drydown, the coconut really comes into its own, creamy, warm, but not over-sugared, not milky, but really beautifully embedded in this fruity-floral context. The coconut is also carried by a certain warmth that comes in through the amber, slightly resinous-sweet in combination with the benzoin, like the sugar rim of a cocktail glass.

In summary, a really beautiful, sweet-fruity-creamy all-rounder that will find its friends in summer, but for me is almost wearable all year round. Perhaps a little avoidable in excessively high temperatures, but somehow the creaminess is actually quite well balanced with the sweetness and freshness. The nice thing about Kolada is that it doesn't smell like a cheap, sticky pineapple and coconut drink from a can, but rather like a nice pina colada - natural, sweet, creamy and fruity.

... i can recommend it for a test with a clear conscience :)

Like a sugary pineapple compote! Pina kolada vibes but more of an ambery gourmand interpretation of that scent profile.

Tropical unisex perfume, but much more feminine. Nothing innovative or amazing. Interesting performance in the heat.
